A Saturday post, never published.

Without much introduction, here we go! Six things that are on my mind today (Saturday).

Teacher gifts. Today the kids and I went to Bath and Body Works and purchased gifts for four teachers and one teacher assistant: 5 soaps and 5 small tubes of hand cream. We will then place one bottle of soap and one tube of hand cream into a small bag, tie it with a twine or ribbon, and include a note from the kids. T suggested that we include a Dunkin or a Target gift card, too – a good idea. L’s aftercare has five staff members that all work together so they will receive a big box of Cheryl’s Cookies. The cookies are individually wrapped and the box contains 36 cookies so it about 7 each. They can do the division themselves 🙂

Health. Ugh, this morning T and were were like “UGH, I can’t breathe.” Everybody in our household is congested, has a cough or both (me and T). I continue to feel “off” with a general feeling of malaise. I hope we are better by next week – we are hosting Thanksgiving for the four of us and two of our close friends.

Black Friday shopping. No spontaneous, “oh this is so cute!” shopping will happen here (at least on my part). The stuff I like is in the cart(s) and I need to see if it will be discounted on Black Friday. If yes- great. If not – oh well. What I have in my cart are mainly gifts: for L, R, and T. I will be keeping my eye on Nordstrom, Etsy, and Amazon throughout the day but I probably won’t end up buying anything.

Christmas tree. T has been sent a Christmas tree and asked to give his honest review. So he did, and now we have an artificial, undecorated, but pre-lit Christmas tree in our living room! We usually go with a real one but why not try something new this year? No needles to clean up and it was free.

Filming!
It’s up!

Hair. Olaplex, turns out, is worth it. I talked about how I had a mini heart attack when I paid $90 for two bottles of product. I have been using it once per week for about a month and I noticed a couple of things: new hair growth and my hair being very shiny. My hair is naturally straight, thin, with grays, not colored or processed so there is not much damage to fix. But, I’ll take shiny!

Nature. This tree just POPPED and it is so bright and beautiful! I keep looking at it in our yard. So pretty. Ahhh, little things in life.

It’s a maple 🍁

Wow those leaves are gorgeous! Our leaves are all gone now for the most part but we are always a few weeks to a month ahead of you guys.

We put up our tree on Friday, too. I love Thanksgiving but need the glow of the tree earlier with how dark it gets.

I need to figure out what we are getting the boys and teacher gifts. For daycare we always gave cash gifts but that might not be appropriate for teachers in school? I didn’t think of the before and after care teachers. I will have to come up with something for them. There is such a large group of teachers so a gift of a bunch of cookies sounds like a good idea.

I hope you all start to feel better. That was us for the last 8-10 weeks. We are finally feeling better!

Those teacher gifts sound absolutely perfect! What a great idea.
Thanks for the Olaplex update! Sadly I have found that the most expensive products really do work the best when it comes to hair, and so…I guess we have to shell out for them! Your hair looks really great.
We have a pre-lit artificial tree as well and I love it. It’s so easy and also, my husband has quite bad allergies so having a real tree in the house isn’t an option for us.

Olaplex was NOT the answer for me. It was so heavy and made my hair greasy and I immediately switched back to a different brand. Why is there no answer for everybody when it comes to hair care?!

Maple trees are so gorgeous in the fall. Those colors!

Hey, I’d take that Christmas tree for free any day… looks like you’ve received a great gift. It looks great.

Hope you’re all on the road to recovery.

I used to poo-poo fake Christmas trees, but they are SO MUCH SAFER, and also the pre-lit thing is a game changer for me. I will never go back.

I bought my daughter the big expensive bottles of Olaplex awhile ago, and she doesn’t love it for her color, so I have been using it. I LOVE IT. My hairdresser said my hair is in really good shape, too. So it’s a good answer for me. Having said that, I just bought a big bottle of my other favorite conditioner, Formula 18. Not any cheaper, but I do love it.

I’m forever on the hunt for shampoo/conditioner that allows me to go more than a day between washes. My hair is SO fine and it starts getting greasy by the end of the day, even if I washed it in the morning. It’s very annoying! I may have to look into Olaplex to see if it would help.

I love having an artificial Christmas tree. So much easier than the hassle of a real tree – and I can just burn a balsam fir candle to get the scent. 😉
