  1. Hauled debris from the back yard into a hole that was dug for us back in the summer. The thing is, our back yard is largely “wild” and natural yet last year I noticed junks of construction debris strewn around. The previous owners placed their construction debris in the back yard (I’m talking concrete, asphalt, old railroad wood, and other demolition materials). We had it all scattered in the “natural” section our back yard aka “the woods.” I am a believer in feng shui so I decided to clean it all up. You can’t really see it unless you go into the woods but still. It bothered me. Turns out, much of it cannot be recycled. The decision was made to dig a hole and to (at least) bury it for the time being. So this summer and fall we slowly filled the hole. I feel the woods look so much better. I can see the difference! No concrete, no sharp metal debris sticking out of the ground, no broken bricks or asphalt pieces. Now the kids can build their castles in the woods 🙂
  2. Christmas craft. Yep, L was adamant how she wanted to do a Christmas craft. So I guess Christmas arrives early this year?
  3. A call with our retirement advisor this morning. It feels empowering to be talking about money and finance. I tend to take a more passive role in this but t is time that I learn more about it. I come from a culture that did not trust banks or stock market or provided any kind of financial literacy to young people. Thankfully, I started investing into my 403b in my 20s so I have quite a few years advantage. Brian (the advisor) asks me: “so, what do you envision in your retirement?” Me: “Errrr…. read novels and travel?”
  4. I am very behind on commenting on people’s posts for #NaBloPoMo! I know why. When I read the post, I have things to say, then I go to comment, and bam! cannot do it on my phone. Save the post in favorites. And forget about it later. I feel like I have to dedicate an hour to sit at my Mac and comment.
  5. Cough. I feel better!! The doctor gave me a VILE liquid medicine that makes me drowsy so I only take it at night but it’s making a difference! I feel like I cough less which is good news for me and for everyone around me. PLUS, went to the Korean sauna yesterday with a friend and I think that helped somewhat.

This week has been…. I don’t even know. Strange. I only worked ONE day – Monday. Tuesday was election day, schools were closed, Wednesday I was sick, Thursday and today schools are closed since we have NJEA Teacher Convention. Then it’s the weekend!

Aww. Love the Christmas decorations. I was debating putting up our basement tree today but decided it’s a BIT too early, even for me.

We have a lot of dead wood in our back yard. It’s in and around trees so in the summer it’s not visible but it looks messy in the winter. We now have a fire pit, so I told my husband some day we need to get a little fire going and just haul brush out and burn in!

Cleaning up construction waste is so hard and expensive. I’m sure you’ve thought of this, but there are no chemicals or anything that you’re burying that might leach into the water, right? I just always worry about hurting my water supply!

Nope no chemicals! Rocks, bricks, stone. That is an excellent point!!

Read novels and Travel… That could have been my answer. I agree having a grip on finances is empowering. Until you have to pay tax or something. Than I would like to be oblivious and not know about it.

With Christmas already arriving at the stores I think it’s just fair that arrives at home, too.
I really feel you on the commenting. I feel pretty much the same.

I’m glad to hear your cough is improving!

The same thing happens to me with commenting on my phone. Boo. Why is it so hard (and sometimes impossible!) to comment on my phone?!

I’m glad your cough is improving! Mine was actually best when laying down which was a blessing as it didn’t impact my sleep once I was settled in. I know the vile cough syrup you speak of though! It has codeine in it so can really knock a person out!

Commenting on the phone is hard, but I sometimes do (and to make it easier, I set up some short cuts on my phone so I don’t have to type out my name, email and blog URL every single time. It’s helpful.

I am glad your cough is improving. I got my flu shot yesterday and hope to avoid any sickness this winter (one can wish).

I also got behind on commenting- once you’re behind it’s SO hard to get caught up!
I usually refuse to get out anything Christmas-y until after Thanksgiving, but for some reason this year I’m wanting to start early. I’m trying to hold myself back but a Christmas mug MAY make an appearance tomorrow. So…. it’s not too early in my book!
I hope you feel better soon.

I had to go out of town for a funeral this week, and am thus definitely behind on commenting. I am going to try to catch up, but also going to let it go some as well.

    I’m glad you’re feeling better!

It’s so easy to get behind on blog reading! I feel the same way, and I haven’t even had a chance to look at the other new participants and check out their blogs. We’re all doing the best we can!

I am in full-on Christmas mode already and I don’t care. I love this time of year so much!

I’m behind on my commenting too. The basketball nightmare we are dealing with has been very distracting and time consuming. So glad your cough is better. Hooray for dealing with backyard debris. I dislike yard work and I let Coach deal with most of it unless someone gives me a specific task. I DO clean out the garage every year and THAT IS THE WORST JOB IN THE WORLD.
