- Hauled debris from the back yard into a hole that was dug for us back in the summer. The thing is, our back yard is largely “wild” and natural yet last year I noticed junks of construction debris strewn around. The previous owners placed their construction debris in the back yard (I’m talking concrete, asphalt, old railroad wood, and other demolition materials). We had it all scattered in the “natural” section our back yard aka “the woods.” I am a believer in feng shui so I decided to clean it all up. You can’t really see it unless you go into the woods but still. It bothered me. Turns out, much of it cannot be recycled. The decision was made to dig a hole and to (at least) bury it for the time being. So this summer and fall we slowly filled the hole. I feel the woods look so much better. I can see the difference! No concrete, no sharp metal debris sticking out of the ground, no broken bricks or asphalt pieces. Now the kids can build their castles in the woods 🙂
- Christmas craft. Yep, L was adamant how she wanted to do a Christmas craft. So I guess Christmas arrives early this year?
- A call with our retirement advisor this morning. It feels empowering to be talking about money and finance. I tend to take a more passive role in this but t is time that I learn more about it. I come from a culture that did not trust banks or stock market or provided any kind of financial literacy to young people. Thankfully, I started investing into my 403b in my 20s so I have quite a few years advantage. Brian (the advisor) asks me: “so, what do you envision in your retirement?” Me: “Errrr…. read novels and travel?”
- I am very behind on commenting on people’s posts for #NaBloPoMo! I know why. When I read the post, I have things to say, then I go to comment, and bam! cannot do it on my phone. Save the post in favorites. And forget about it later. I feel like I have to dedicate an hour to sit at my Mac and comment.
- Cough. I feel better!! The doctor gave me a VILE liquid medicine that makes me drowsy so I only take it at night but it’s making a difference! I feel like I cough less which is good news for me and for everyone around me. PLUS, went to the Korean sauna yesterday with a friend and I think that helped somewhat.
This week has been…. I don’t even know. Strange. I only worked ONE day – Monday. Tuesday was election day, schools were closed, Wednesday I was sick, Thursday and today schools are closed since we have NJEA Teacher Convention. Then it’s the weekend!
