Daily writing prompt
What things give you energy?

A nice prompt from WordPress this morning. Not going to overthink it. Here it goes:

  1. A praise/commendation/acknowledgement/a positive comment/a compliment about my work/writing/other
  2. A day off from work (example: school is closed for Yum Kippur this Monday)
  3. A loaded oatmeal breakfast
  4. First day of the month
  5. A change of seasons: summer to fall, fall winter, winter to spring. Spring into summer-not so much.
  6. Seeing friends
  7. Yoga and exercise (when I do it)
  8. Walks
  9. Planning
  10. Crossing things off my list(s)
  11. Gratitude and counting my blessings.

How about YOU?

Date night with my husband (preferably at home – nice meal and watching a movie)
    Cleaning something
    Listening to music (loud!)
Driving (less if I’m a passenger; I really prefer doing highway driving when I’m in the drivers seat)
    Quiet
Reading a good book (especially non fiction)

Elizabeth!!! Thank you for stopping by, I think of you often! I hope the blog recovery is going well. I can’t wait to start reading your updates again. You know, I feel like cleaning does give me a boost of energy – it’s that feeling of accomplishment.

Ohh I can relate to unexpected messages/news from friends, as long as they are positive. Negative news puts me down.

I’ve been thinking about this idea of energy lately – I had just read an essay that talked about how sometimes we say, “We don’t have time to do something” and the cliche is that we are really saying, “That isn’t a priority,” but sometimes that isn’t it – sometimes what we are saying is, “I don’t have energy for that.”
    Anyhow …
For me, off the top of my head –
    – exercise (which much as I don’t like running, I have to admit that it gives me a good kick for the day.)
    – a good idea
    – connection with people
    – fresh air and being outside
    -doing a downward dog

Wow, that makes absolute perfect sense. I will try the downward dog and take notice whether I may use it as an energy booster.

Wow! Changes of seasons are SO HARD for me. I’m really drooping right now. The cool mornings and evenings are giving me the sads. Hm .Maybe I need to be more optimistic about the good things fall and winter bring instead of just dreading the dark.

That’s interesting… I feel like if I am in any season for a long time I get depressed and need the change. Although when I think about January and February in New Jersey/New York, I get the sads, too. It is very grey!

Naps comes to mind first. Ha. I never napped before having kids. I would try and just could not fall asleep. Wow has that changed post kids especially with 2 kids. But besides that, I get energy from meeting up/having a convo with a friend (like our meet up last week!), being outside, going for a run in nature, a good strength training workouts, and being excited about something whether it’s planning a trip or a work project or something like that so it could be something exciting (travel) or something about my work which doesn’t appear exciting to the outside observer.

I love all of those! And you are right- I felt so good after our meeting! I am usually nervous when meeting new people but there is a boost of energy that comes during/after. And yes to the work stuff- I can so relate to that. When I get a new idea on how to introduce subjunctive I’m like “yeah!!!” 🤣

What a fun exercise! What gives me energy… good sleep, a rejuvenating conversation with a friend, a walk in the sunshine, compliments, spending time with other people (even if I will dread the social aspect of it because that’s just the way I’m wired!)

Also very much an introvert! Can absolutely relate to the social aspect of spending time with people, with limits
