A few thoughts today… In no particular order of importance.

👉 Finances. Happy to see my paychecks rolling in again, I missed them! I am a 10 month employee so I don’t work in the summer and, while I use the “summer pay” program from the district, where they withhold a certain amount during the year and release it to you in the summer, that can’t really compare to my full paycheck. It’s comforting to know that every 15th and 30th of the month I will get paid and that will add to our household. T works 12 months of the year.

👉 Something for myself. Barefoot Dreams cardigan was 1/2 off and still kind of expensive but it was a great investment. Arrived from Nordstrom’s and it is super soft!! Been wearing it at work and on weekends.

👉 Kids. Gymnastic Saturdays are going well. Both kids seem to enjoy it, no crying or wining. R is wiped afterwards and usually takes a 2 hour nap 🙌

👉 Partner is back!! Meaning I can take a deep breath and relax.

👉 Fall is officially here in NJ and it is beautiful. I can see the tops of some trees in the yard and neighborhood start turning gold. Ahhhh, my favorite time of year.

L and I saw this beautiful sky yesterday evening

👉 Weekend. Absolutely nothing planned. On a whim, T went to a football game with L (our home district), and I stayed behind with R who went down for a nap with zero complains. Thanks, gymnastics!

👉 Podcast recommendation: Edit Your Life “Opting Out of Extracurricular Pressure” by Christine Koh and her podcasting partner Asha Dornfest discuss “how not to sacrifice family wellbeing on an altar of activities.”

👉 House. Not clean. Cleaner Lenka coming Tuesday.

👉 Laundry. Not done.

👉 Self: pedicure this morning me- pumpkin color, L – deep purple 🥰 Extended alone time when T and L were at the game.

👉 The rest of the weekend… Laundry+reading+family time+some groceries

All is well. All is well. All is well. 🙏

glad to hear you’ve adjusted to the new “routine” and getting paycheck back. hahaha… I didn’t know teachers don’t get paid on summer. I always thought you get paid the whole year and only work 10 months.
treating yourself is so important! you look great in that cardigan.

Hi Coco! Maybe in other countries they are but here in the US we all are on 10 month contract. So for the two months that schools are closed, we do not get paid. I wish we did it otherwise!

I love that cardigan! It looks so soft and cozy! Fall has arrived here as well. The temps are cooler and the leaves are just starting to change! It’s one of my favorite seasons – kind of neck and neck with summer. Although I kind of tire of summer but never tire of fall – probably because I don’t love winter so don’t want to go through that next seasonal transition!

Yay for long naps! Taco’s wasn’t great today and he woke up with a night terror. Both of my boys have had them. Paul had outgrown them but had one last week during the middle of the night, probably from being overtired at school!

We’ve had them with L… Not fun. But like you said, she overthrew them soon enough. Oh kids…

Elizabeth!! I miss reading your updates! Thanks for stopping by, I think of you often. The cleaner fell sick so now she is coming on Thursday. Yes, it would be so nice to take that chore off our list 🙂

That cardigan looks cozy! I’m glad you treated yourself to it.

This is the time of year I get very jealous of people living up north. Being able to watch the leaves turn must be so special!

Oh hi! I popped over after reading about you on Lisa’s blog today. My husband is a teacher, but at a private school and they spread their salaries evenly through 12 months of the year. But I know the public schools down here (Florida) do it the way yours does. Yes, I’m sure it’s nice to get that paycheck again!
I’m envious of your fall weather! It’ll be hot down here through October and possibly into November. Sigh…

Hi Jenny!! Thank you for stopping by! I wish our district would do a 12 month deal… This week we had 70s and even 50s at night!
