🧦 Today is filled with delicious minutiae of very day life. Coffee. Naps. Laundry. Play.
I had grand plans to go down the shore (to the beach) today but rain spoiled it all in the morning. And now it’s noon, and creeping up to 90+ degrees, and I just want to stay in the air conditioned space. Privilege.
In the morning, we sat on the porch while it was raining. Once it cleared up, we went to a diner for a late breakfast.
Took our yearly family picture. T set up his equipment, grey screen background, lighting, and timer. After taking a million of fotos where we looked like serial killers or taking a crap, or both, we have two or three winners. Everyone is almost smiling, sort of making eye contact with the camera lens, and looking relatively normal.
🌰 September 🌰
During the past week, I enjoyed reading reflections on August as people were taking stock of their lives, activities, and goals. I don’t feel the need to reflect on August since I already did it in Goodbye Q3, hello Q4! post. Plus, I am a kind of person who likes to move on. Example: you will not see any Christmas decorations at our house after January 2. So, looking ahead to September…
🌰 September will not be busy for us. There are no travel plans and no major celebrations. The focus of the month will be on routines and getting used to going to preschool (R) and kindergarten (L). At this moment I feel in a good pace with routines already – in bed by 7:30PM the latest so T and I can have quality time sans kids. They are both early risers so mornings should not be a problem.
🌰 Notable happenings: a) first day of school for both kids; b) fall equinox c) a Back-to-School night where I have to present and d) cleaner lady starts mid September. But other than that, nothing else.
🌰 A new add-on: signed both kids for gymnastics on Saturday mornings, at the same time, at the same place. Kid activities went up from 0 to 1.
There will be one week where T is away all week long meaning I will be entirely parenting solo. And working. And driving. And, and. You get the picture. I will make sure that I have all essential elements in place as well as meals batch-cooked and laundry is done.
I do not feel that September will be stressful (apart from that week when I will be alone with the kids). One thing that still bothers me is that we still do not have a sitter lined up for monthly dates with T thus we will be dragging kids along with us to a restaurant OR putting them to bed and doing a date night at home with take-out and a movie.
Intentions and reminders for myself: enjoy the little things: read+write+do yoga+teach+meditate+time in nature.
What about you? Will September be busy for your family? Anything specific to look forward to in September?
