School year has started for me and I am in my element! But also exhausted. I love prepping the classroom, designing the first few lessons, meeting students for the first time, telling them about me, learning about them. I do not love all the paperwork we have to do… Benchmarks, SGOs, etc. I just want to teach and have fun doing it.

One of the bulletin boards

Since this year I have my own classroom, I created a theme for myself and students – “growth”. That is why the classroom has many shades of green and is decorated with eucalyptus leaves pretty much all over. I tried making it cozy by bringing a table lamp and hanging a string of lights. Also, I ordered postcards on Amazon which went on bulletin boards, too. Picasso, cats, and landscapes of Mexico.

One of the many postcards 🤣❤️ this one is for me, not the classroom.

I have a great feeling about this school year. I know I will probably feel differently sometime in March or May when everyone is running out of steam but right now I am enjoying being back with students and colleagues.

A little corner with necessities for students to borrow. Tissues go fast but everything else the kids bring lasts pretty much till June.

I am very much behind of Feedly blogs but I did finish my Trinidad book this morning! Feels like an accomplishment, that book was 300+pages long!

This week my head is swimming a bit in spite of many things being positive. When I get back home from work, it’s making dinner, playing with the kids, and trying to have some kind of legible conversation with T. Then baths and teeth, more playing or drawing or role playing or magna tiles, then books, songs, and by 7:30 (the latest) the kids are sleeping. I usually grab a book and inhale as much as I can then fall asleep. Next day, rinse and repeat.

By the way, folding laundry is out of control again.

My send-off squad this morning! 🍁📚❤️

This is such a happy post! Your classroom looks lovely and it’s so nice to return to a clean slate and renewed energy for structure and a new year!

Also, as always, your house looks so charming. I love the vines and gorgeous brick. What a lovely place to leave/come back to ❤

Your house is really cute! Love the shutters and window boxes!

I’m glad you are starting the school year with lots of energy and excitement! You put a lot of thought into your classroom decor. That is something I am TERRIBLE at. Which is why I work with numbers. 😉

Paul’s school had their open house last night but he had to miss it since he’s up at my parents. It made things feel a bit more “real” to see the spot where he’ll sit with his little name placard! Enrollment appears to be down in our district – there are only 19 kids in his classroom. Last year the teacher had 28 kids! It’s not good for the district but is good for him and for the teacher!
