Weekly recap. I thought I have prepared nicely the weekend prior but then again..
I did clean and tidy the house, laundry was at zero, and my outfits were made advance. Chili was cooked on a Sunday night and lasted till Thursday.
Our routines were following the same pattern of me waking up about an hour / an hour and a half before the kids, having my quiet time in the morning to meditate, stretch, do some weights, and get ready.
I knew that I cannot waste any time in the mornings, and had to constantly remind myself of that.
Then the kids were up at around 6am, having breakfast, getting ready (with my help). Some mornings we even had margins- to do piano, to play, to go outside, to tidy the house before leaving. Other mornings it was very tight.

I did notice on the days that I did *some kind* of physical activity I felt better – mentally and energetically.
I had the pleasure of bringing both kids to their activities 😉 R had BJJ three times, and L had her weekly piano lesson for one hour.
While I do not enjoy all the driving, I do appreciate what the kids are learning in jiu jitsu and piano. Additional silver lining is that I can read my book or plan or go for a run while they are in after school lessons. BJJ lesson is 45 minutes long and that’s times three, so 2.25 hours of “time” for me. Piano is one hour long once a week, and, if weather permits, I go for a run around the block. This week it was raining during that day so instead I went to Trader Joe’s next door to get some groceries.
It’s very tempting to just fart that time away, on my phone, looking at clothes I can’t buy, at things in the world that I can’t change, people I can’t measure up to. After work, my will power is used up and prone to distractions/easy scrolling because.. I don’t know, I need something easy. But I don’t need news. Or shopping. Or comparing. Because if I fart that time away, I feel WORSE, not BETTER. If I go for a walk, or a run, or to a grocery store, or whatever, call a friend, then I feel BETTER. Or, if I just close my eyes in the car for a few moments.
Evenings were okay, for the most part. Both of my kids are at the same school and at the same aftercare program. The afternoons also had a pattern:
*Finish work at 2:45pm
*Have some “me time” at work – catch up on life, read blogs, read my book, plan
*Pick one kid up at aftercare around 4pm for their lesson (other kid stays at aftercare)
*Stay at lesson with said kid
*Pick another kid up at aftercare
*Bring both kids home at around 5:45
*Backpacks and lunch boxes unpacked and cleaned out (for all of us 🙂
*Time on the trampoline for the kids
*Dinner at around 6-6:30
*Bed time at 7:30 or 8 (for all of us 🙂
I wore the outfits that I prepped the weekend before but I felt frumpy in one of them – the flower skirt. I bought the skirt in Tropea, and love it but not sure whether I styled it well. It’s just that skirt is a VERY full skirt with a VERY bold flower pattern. So, next time… What do you think? A nude turtleneck? A black fitted body suit? Some heeled sandals?..

Weekend.

Needs and wants for the weekend:
Finalize lesson plans for week of 09/29
Laundry – put away
Back stairs – put primer
Town hall meeting at kids’ school
Probably will have some neighborhood kids over
Get gas and put air in tires for my car
Aldi for vegetables and dairy
Make outfits for next week
Overall freshen up the house

Lastly, I want to share some pictures from our annual photo session.

Questions for you:
Do you have pockets of free time during the week? When are they? How do you use them?
How should I style the flower skirt next time? What do you wear to work?
