Thanks Elisabeth for this collective. This Sunday, I am reflecting on a few general figs from this past week.

FIG #1 Happy birthday to this handsome devil! Forty-four looks good on you!

#2 Some fresh money figs

Although I don’t necessarily like to spend money, I admit that a few purchases made over the last three weeks are directly tied to positive things. Seeing a musical in NYC incurred big Uber and a sitter fees. Last night we celebrated T’s birthday with dinner and sitter’s fee. Last week, I also bought another 10 classes of Brazilian jiu jitsu for R, and two more months of gymnastics for both kids is due on March 1st. All good things but I am feeling darn insecure.

I also bought two items off Etsy… A cute Valentine’s day garland arrived from England, and a small hand-painted painting came from an artist in FL. When it arrived, it smelled sooo good – all turpentine and fresh paint.

I am trying to curate a collection of favorite things that I take out for each holiday, then carefully pack away for next year. I don’t mind investing a little extra. So far, I only have Christmas and Valentine’s day items. St. Patrick’s decor is next?…

#3 A few health figs. 1. So many people around me are getting sick. But so far (I will probably jinx myself) my family has managed to avoid whatever bug is going around. That’s significant because we swim in germs in our respective places of employment and learning. 2. The PT for my neck and mid back is making a difference. I go twice a week and neck is feeling better. It’s been just under a month.

#4 A warmer weather fig! Finally, finally, it is sunny and 40s in central New Jersey. Last week we had tremendous wind but it has calmed down.

Upcoming figs

Next week, on Thursday and Friday is a 3 day NYC professional conference for world language educators. I go every year, and I absolutely love it! The conference has crème de la crème, best of [insert a US state] world language educators sharing their ideas. I have gone in 2017, 2023, and 2024. The district is paying the conference fee and transportation and I am paying for my food. Hotel was booked with points from T’s job. I’m very thankful for that.

Overall, many fresh figs.

How about you? Care to share a fig or two?

love these Figs Daria! E has actually just started Taekwondo , agree money well spent. Staying well in a sea of germs is definitely a big juicy Fig- I’ve even just had a mild cold this week and it’s slowed me down so much. And happy birthday to T!

I’ve been trying to collect a few decorations for the various little holidays through the year. I have a few St. Patrick’s Day decorations up and they make me really happy! Now I need to find some Easter/Spring ones.
