We are three months into 2023, and I feel the clock ticking. Towards what – I have no clue but I feel that time is passing. I usually do a Weekly Review (thanks, GTD!) but doing a monthly reflection is also benefitial. I am thinking lowlights and highlights, as well as areas for improvement for the next month.
March Highlights
~ a conference in NYC (March 2-4)
~ end -of-year/summative process finished = received very complementary feedback. Love where I work.
~L is registered for kindergarten!
~ Got together with friends for a Sunday brunch (March 12)
~Books finished: 3.
~St. Patricks Day! Green muffins, corned beef and cabbage, decor, gold coins, the works. Tons of fun. And clean up.
~Had mammogram and ultrasound (my word of the year 2023: health)
~Went to a ballet with a family friend and my kids
~Ongoing morning routine+water intake+good food (for the most part)+ vitamins
~My sweet Subaru is paid off!
~Invisalign is going well
~Shopped for our Denmark trip early to reduce trip stress
~A friend helped with tons of ideas on Denmark trip + blog posts from other moms who have done it with small kids
~survived a teeth cleaning visit at the dentist (Dr. Xiao is awesome by the way, so patient).
March Lowlights
~ Did not exercise
~Did not go to Kodo in NJPAC. Really wanted to and had it on my calndar since last summer but it was on a Tuesday night (!)
~Some instances of being short-tempered and cynical with kids (as well as other people)
~Spring equinox- didn’t do anything to celebrate
~Daylight savings was rough
~Didn’t send a gift to a good friend’s daughter’s birthday (they live in Poland)
~Did not update the budget (but I think T did)
~ International Women’s Day (March 8th): did not celebrate in any way. Last year L and R gave yellow flowers to their teachers and made cards. This year- nothing.
~ Mom’s group is napping, and I do not know how to revive it. Ladies are wrapped up in their own lives, some dealing with crises, others don’t want to or don’t have time or energy to check-in. Very few are regularly active (about 5 people) and the rest just don’t participate. Need to think about it a bit more. When I check in with that group I oftentimes feel like I am intruding.
~ Apart from the professional conference and that Sunday brunch with friends, I didn’t have a lot of social interactions (not counting work, of course). Not sure if it’s a concern but just could be a season of life right now.
~ no monthly date night- sitter got sick.
Looking ahead!
In April… Me and the kids-Copenhagen! T-London for Star Wars convention!
Easter. A good friend’s birthday-hatchet throwing. National Librarian’s Day-April 16th. A monthly date and Earth Day. Daffodils and greenery. Our fence: will be completely finished. Warmer weather. Perhaps more playdates and/or outings with the kids. More time outside. More reading and writing. Plant some flowers into the flower boxes. Step away from podcasts and short articles for a bit and instead do audiobooks and Kindle books.
