Let’s start with LEMONS. My one and only albeit giant and sour lemon is a feeling of overwhelm that I don’t seem to shake off. Granted the busy week I just had, it’s understandable. This is a long weekend so I am hoping to add some concrete self care to add some margin to my days. I feel like I need to sit down, write some stuff down, clean the house, put away laundry.. Get my head on straight.

T and I invested some money into the production of Redwood the musical, and when to the opening night in NYC! Idina Menzel was incredible, the plot was so moving but the overall reviews are mixed. Some critics thought it was too new-agey, some thought it fell flat. Some were not happy with the set. Whatever, I loved it and was moved by both music and lyrics (it does have themes of loss and self-discovery).

We also went to the after party since this was Redwood’s opening night. Oh, an afterparty for a Broadway musical in an NYC ballroom was really out of my comfort zone. The fashions were beautiful. I mean, it’s not Academy awards but still the outfits were gorgeous. Tons of evening dresses, cocktail dresses, blouses and skirts or suits, and some awesome make up and statement jewelry. I was/felt very underdressed in my blue sheath. Oh well.
It was a wonderful people-watching opportunity. Made me wanna move to NYC for a bit. On our way back, I go to T “just curious, what do apartments go for in this part of town?” Midtown the 41st, 42 streets… He goes “oh, about 4-5K per month?…” Bah.

Anywho. The musical, the afterparty, and simply being in NYC were awesome. But I was *fried* the next morning.
Valentine’s Day. Say what you may about Valentine’s day but I enjoy it. I love wearing red, cards, flowers, and chocolates. So what that it’s a fake holiday? Let it be another reason to have some chocolate truffles from Target, and write a card to a loved one. I listed some random things I love about T. Examples: his sense of humor, his legs, his laugh, his hugs, when he cleans the kitchen, when he calls me cute, when he makes dinner, when he opens the window and when he does NOT touch the thermostat and keeps the house cool. Last two are important since I am going through some night sweats this year. The kids got chocolates and cards from us and plushies from my mother-in-law.

Spirit week at L’s school was so fun. They had a fun socks day, a sports jersey day, a funny hat day, a crazy hair day. Below is a crazy hair day creation – a collab between L and I.

Skates are back! R is back on skates for 8 weeks. In fact I am typing this while I wait for him to wrap up his lesson. One day I hope he starts hockey.

On tap this weekend:
Yoga, gymnastics, skates, a few play dates, PT for my neck and upper back, and piano. In between all that, I need some space to pick up the house, read, and just veg out.
By the way, watches Heretic yesterday with T after the kids have gone to bed. It was good – a 2024 horror movie with Hugh Grant. Recommend.

How was your week? How do you deal with overwhelm? Musicals, yay or nay?
