TGIF everyone! I really mean it. This week has been oooouffff… I need this weekend.
Let’s check in on this past week.
Self: scratchy throat, feeling blah, and only did yoga once this week, on Tuesday. The days were mainly like this: go to work, muscle through, load up on “throat coat” tea, teach the material the best I can without too much talking (which actually kind of worked). Pick up the kids, come home, load up on more tea, have dinner, get the kids ready for bed, play with them, put them to bed. Didn’t even watch any shows with T this week, I was so bleghhhh. Mental health is actually doing okay, no major complaints there. The book I’m currently reading is the Change by K. Miller.

Work: end of the marking period for all my students and some tough lessons learned, especially for my incoming 9th grade students. They learned that high school is different from middle school in terms of expectations, work ethic, and behavior. This learning experience is necessary for them. “I will teach you and help you but I can not and will not do your work for you.”- my motto for many, many years. I was also observed this past week (meaning an administrative team member comes and watches your class) and received very complimentary feedback such as “keep doing what you are doing.” We also had a potluck style Thanksgiving at our high school, among all the staff. I really do have the best colleagues.
Family: R had his jiu jitsu on Tuesday, and we went to the library on Thursday. We had a bear in R’s preschool vicinity and then in someone’s yard (!) so all kids were told to stay indoors. Where the bear came from, I have no clue. I know our local police were observing her for a while. I just hope they didn’t hurt her. After checking the news this morning I saw that she is now in the neighboring town.
