Thanks, WordPress, for a thought-provoking prompt. Time to unpack.
1. It bothers me when my house is not picked up. Why? Probably makes me feel like I am not in control.
2. It bothers me when there is too much clutter accumulation. Why? Too much visual stimulation.
3. It bothers me when I lose something, no matter how trivial. Why? See: control.
4. It bothers me if/when I am surrounded by many people, for long periods of time, in an enclosed space (i.e. a conference). Why? I am an introvert.
5. It bothers me when instead of just listening and nodding, people jump in and offer solutions/strategies. Sometimes I need to just be listened to, really listened to.
6. It bothers me when the bedsheets have not been changed. Why? I love clean sheets.
7. It bothers me when a piece of meat fiber gets stuck in my teeth. Why? I have Invisalign so it happens quite often now that my teeth shifted a bit.
8. It bothers me when rain falls into my neck collar. Why? Startling and uncomfortable.
9. It bothers me when I am the only one reaching out. Then when I see a person, they go “We haven’t seen you in a while!” Me saying out loud: “I KNOW!” Me thinking: “You have a phone, too, you know. You can reach out. You need to reciprocate. We are all busy.” I have had a few friends who I stopped reaching out to because they just would never take initiative. So I stopped.
10. It bothers me when people leave lights on in the rooms they are not using. Why? I am cheap.
YOU?
