It’s Mind Map time! That’s how my brain works.

April was a good month overall. Looking at the mind map, I see there are quite a few things that are ongoing (gardening, clean up, Italy prep) and carry-overs (date, New York Botanical Gardens visit, yoga pass, etc). I also see that I slowed down a bit with my “connection” word of the year, and I think I needed it. Colleagues were getting together one night and I did not go. Earth Fest at the reservation (a county event) – did not go but opted for hiking instead. Definite April highlights are my sister-friend’s birthday, Paris trip (beginning of April), L’s spelling bee, the start of gardening season and Bring Your Child to Work Day.

May… Self, Work, Family plus adding House and Garden category because it’s spring planting and cleaning time. It’s also my birthday month 🙂 For my birthday I have some plans. On an actual day of my birth, am taking myself to a Japanese drumming show (Taiko). My 3 sister friends are coming over on a Saturday to hang and have dinner, and on Sunday I reserved a massage and foot reflexology at my favorite Korean spa.

Two other highlights for May are Mother’s day and a long Memorial Day weekend – I already have some ideas on what to do during those five days off. T will also be away for two weeks and that means solo parenting, and I will slowly start decluttering my classroom before the school year ends. We also have a week of state testing at the school but that is a-okay with me. Happens every year.

May has a bit of a reputation but I don’t feel like it’s very busy at this stage of my life.

Any April highlights from your neck of the woods? What does may have in store for you?

I think connecting with yourself counts, too; good on you for knowing when you needed a break! May is madness around here with dance competitions and work being wild. Hmm… an April highlight was getting away with my little family and finding some consistency with some goals!

I can’t believe it is on the brink of May! When I was growing up, May was the last month of school, so if always seemed like the end of the school year and like a change in season. My kids, though, don’t get out until mid-June, so May kind of feels like business as usual, but also kind of like things are pushing to the end. But we have some good things coming up – my kid’s theatre performance, my show opening, my father coming to visit.

    Happy birthday month!!!

In Russia, schools are out at the end of May! I used to love it 🙂 Glad to hear your dad is coming to visit!

Happy early birthday! Your plans sound perfect! May isn’t too bad for us. It seems like it’s only bad if you have middle or high school kids with lots of end of year things. Plus it’s not the end of the school year year for us – we go until mid-June which I am fine with? I went until Memorial Day but got very few breaks. No fall break, no spring break, etc.

We celebrate our anniversary in May with a date night and I have a shouldless day to look forward to as well!

It is very important to me to have things to look forward to. Maybe that is why I am so hooked on travel/trips/museums/beach.
