We started late today since the three of us slept in till about 9am. I think we are adjusting to the time difference plus all the walking.
Highlights from today…
Galerie Lafayette is a department store similar to Saks Fifth avenue. It is absolutely stunning inside and has a rooftop terrace. And, it’s close to the Opera House that we had tickets for at 12. We did not buy anything but enjoyed the views from the rooftop and the belle epoque architecture. An added bonus are the escalators- seven of them- to get to the terrace! R loved it 🙂
We then crossed the road and went into the Opera House. Such splendor! The candelabras, the art, the busts of poets, dancers, and composers, the velvet curtains and chairs. The grand foyer. Everything over the top!!
After the Opera house, we rode the metro to the very last stop of the purple line- Ballard. There we had lunch and walked over to Bormann Circus. Yes, an actual, real circus. Minus the scary clowns.
When we were in the circus, a thunderstorm happened, and I started having anxiety over wet socks and shoes. But we lucked out and it passed before the end of the show.
Next, we went to Rue Cler and had a long dinner at Les Telephones, were R spilled his juice at the beginning of the meal, was told to “be cool” by the waiter 🤣, and broke a glass at the end of our meal. Their bathroom was a phone booth.
Lastly, we walked from Rue Cler to the Eiffel Tower.
A bird pooped onto L’s head on Rue de l’universite- good luck for her. Thank god for a neighboring restaurant and their bathrooms. I obviously took a gazillion pictures of the Tower but will share one here. Turns out, the tower is not silver or grey but bronze/brown. And very impressive.
