On Sunday I was feeling restless so I reorganized our hallway closet. It’s a small walk-in closet that was remodeled by T about three years ago; he even has a video. When you open the door, on the left you see an upper shelf with felt baskets and a bench to sit on. On the right, an upper shelf with felt baskets, a bar with hangers and coats, and a shelf for shoes that are currently in season.

The closet wasn’t THAT bad per se. I only got rid of R’s hiking shoes (too small) and his ski pants from last year (same issue).

This is how it started:

When I took all the bins down, I saw that scarves were mixed in with shoes, hats were with flip flops, etc. So I then dedicated some time to sorting. As a result:

Bin #1 adult shoes out of season (think flip flops and sandals)

Bin #2 kids shoes out of season + hand-me-down shoes that are too big at the moment

Bin #3 hats and scarves for kids and adults

Bin #4 2 blankets and 2 bicycle helmets

Do you have a reorganizing project you’ve recently completed or want to complete?

I have to admit that I have not organized the totes under my beds because I need a better way of organizing craft supplies. I don’t have a ton, but right now I have stickers and fancy paper in a giant pile and there has to be a better way. So I’m researching how to do that. And then I’ll organize them. I promise.

How satisfying that must have been!
I love the bench on the one side of the closet – such a great/practical idea.
I have a ton that I want to go through in the next two months when I have a lighter work schedule – the pantry, my desk, the random area under the console table in out bedroom, my sewing/craft corner. I did go through our tupperware drawer a few weeks ago.

It looks great and I bet that was so satisfying! I love the feeling of a good organization project! I am currently organizing my whole life! Hahaha. But really, I am basically doing Swedish death cleaning and am trying to be ruthless with myself about getting rid of things. Some are easier than others but I’ve called a lot of stuff in the past six months/year.

I love a good organizing project! The end results are so satisfying!! I don’t see the fruits of my labor in my job so I really appreciate it when I can see how my hard work has paid off. I did a small organizational project in my closet when I had the day off last Monday. Now I only see what I can and want to wear which makes it easier to pick out clothes and figure out what I need more of.

A quick re-organization project can be so motivation. I usually loose interest half way through. I organized my bath salts earlier this months. I have an addiction and really need to stop buying more. But that was only a third of a shelf. I want to organized my nail polish. I have too many. Also my cook books.

Your closet assessment post was fascinating. I need to do an inventory of mine. I’m like itching to do it!

I recently cleaned out my sock drawer…I could barely close it. I got rid of a ton, and now I only have socks that have no holes, and have mates. It’s not as satisfying as a closet, but it’s a start. I need to get ruthless on my bedroom closet.
