Yesterday I got a notification from Word press: “congratulations on your 100th post!” It felt good to see that I have kept up writing and making myself part of this wonderful community of bloggers.

I decided to make a list of reasons why I decided to start blogging in March of 2023.

  1. I like the actual physical feeling of writing – be it on pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard. It feels good to me.
  2. I like the act of getting thoughts (no matter how trivial or insignificant) from my brain and into my journal or blog.
  3. Blogging and journalling gives me a feeling of accomplishment. Writing even the smallest paragraph or a post from start to finish feels productive.
  4. Blogging gives me a sense of community and belonging. I read my fellow bloggers as much as I can and they read my page- so we all stay in touch, even if it’s just once or twice a week.
  5. Blogging grounds me and makes me stop and think. Smell the roses, look up at the sky. Plus, ANY kind of reflection is great.
  6. Blogging creates a continuous narrative: kids grow, I get older, change happens, seasons come and go but posts stay frozen on Word press.
  7. It’s a nice way to pass time! It’s a wonderful hobby that provides processing, reflection and community.

I really love the community that comes with blogging. Sometimes I think I should just give up, but what would happen to my people?!

Everything you said is the reason I do it too.
It is so fun to write posts and go back (i’ve been blogging for ten years now). Sometimes it feels like I have just written it, sometimes I can’t remember. It is fun. And it is nice to have some online friends, stay connected have an outlet, be creative. It is a wonderful hobby.

I love it for all the reasons you said. I’ve been blogging for so long that sometimes I feel like I’m repeating myself (and sometimes I am!)

I agree with all these reasons to blog. 🙂 I like this old fashion way of personal bloggers, it feels like we are talking to real people, sharing our stories, and caring for each other.

This is a great summery, and one of the things I like best about NaBlo is getting inspiration from people’s posts and comments– I will be coming back to this idea.

Yes to all of this! I do still struggle to fit in my days but it does make me happy so maybe this year I can stick with it after NaBloPoMo lets out.
