A few thoughts to set free..

Loved these intentions/goals from Brittany of the Healthy Slice of Life blog. She has been doing sort of a self-guided digital detox. I am stealing these intentions + adding my own twist.

  • Keep creating new dreams and plans at every age and stage. Yes x 100. I just need energy and focus.
  • Don’t focus on saying goodbye to the past, but instead, pour your energy into building the next chapter. For someone who likes to look back at my kids’ baby pictures (me), and feeling sad about the passage of time, I really should focus more on what the future holds.
  • Expand your circle; make friends that are in every stage of life. Learn from them. Been trying, continue with this endeavor.
  • What are the joys of the season you’re in? Do more of those. Good thing I’ve been doing: making a quintile list for each quintile (thanks, SHU).
  • Allow yourself to feel all the things, it’s part of life’s process, but don’t dwell too long in the negative spaces. Change the channel and a go do something. HA. Amen, sister.

Pre-school Graduation

L had her pre-school graduation yesterday. Let the waterfall flow. I will say all the typical things that mothers say and feel. It was so wonderful, I cried, my husband cried, we are so proud.

Thankful to L’s pre-school teachers for teaching her many wonderful things: academic and character. Thank you for being patient, inspiring, relatable, supportive, and understanding. I teach high school, and I take my hat off to you to be managing, and- teaching – a room full of fifteen 4- and 5-year-olds. God bless you. R is going there next year, and I know he will learn a lot, too.

As L’s graduation “gift” we went out to the diner and then her and I went to a nail salon and got manicures and pedicures.

Quintiles changed

Quintile 2 is over. Quintile 3 starts tomorrow. I already wrote couple of detailed posts (here and here) about summer, saying goodbye to may and things to look forward to in June. But those were *month* specific… So, here we go.

Q2 ran from mid April to mid June.

Denmark trip – spring break ✅ T traveled to in London for Star Wars convention ✅ Take Your Child to Work Day – with L! ✅ Date with T ✅ Gardening ✅ Axe-throwing for friend’s birthday ✅ My birthday ✅ Brunch at H✅ Mother’s Day ✅ Memorial Day – 5 days off!  ✅ Spa + facial twice ✅ Open enrollment at work ✅ Ordered quality skin care + started wearing sunscreen ✅Final exams for my students ✅ Blogged regularly ✅

❌ Awful GI issue after our Denmark trip ❌ Mom’s weekend away [for Mother’s day and my birthday] ❌ No tangible or consistent exercise ❌ No memorable meals

Heartbreak in Q2 was a friend passing from cancer. May his memory be a comfort to my friend and his sons.

Love the idea of: letting thoughts “free.” I don’t think I’ve ever used that terminology, but I love the imagery it conjures up!!

Again – I love your dress. And what a fun mother/daughter activity to get mani/pedis!

I love that post on reflection too. I am doing all that in my head now that I have so much free time. the passage of time feels pressure, I want to focus one day at the time, forming memories for our family. I’m booking our epic December vacation which lift us my spirit when I miss them.

Wonderful! Can’t wait to rea all about it! My husband is sort of a “home body” and doesn’t particularly care for travel so we stay put during Christmas.

I will not let COVID or other problems stop me. After my friend passed this year from cancer at age 48, I was crushed but it gave me perspective. I will suck the juices out of life ❤️

Nice work on all your Q2 accomplishments!! You got a lot done during the month! Paul has PK graduation on Friday! Then he starts a public school summer program the following week. We don’t feel emotional about this transition like a lot of parents, though. I think we are both best suited for school aged kids? And we will be glad we be done with the large daycare bill, although we will still pay for child care through the before and after school program. It’s just a fraction of the cost. But we have loved the school and he has made so many great friends that we will hopefully stay in touch with.

    Love your rainbow dress!!

Oh daycare bill! So annoying haha L went to a free pre-school and R went to daycare. Next year, no bills for school, because they both will be in a public school system (R- PK and L-kindergarten). And yes, some money for the wrap around program but nothing compared to before. Congratulations to Paul!
