Yesterday I wished I was a stay-at-home or work-from-home parent.
I’ve had quite a day.
My high school graduation was from 2pm to 4pm.
My daughter’s piano lesson was from 4pm till 5pm.
My husband was away on business in North Carolina.
Nobody to bring her to her lesson.
I contacted everybody and their mother asking whether they can get my daughter and bring her to piano.
I was stressed. Really stressed. The piano lesson is $90 per hour. To miss it is a waste of money that I just could not swallow. I asked the music teacher to reschedule but he had no alternate slots available.
Ultimately, my friend’s au pair Helena came through. She picked up my daughter at her school and dropped her off at her piano lesson. I then drove straight to her music school after graduation.
Whew.
Scheduling-wise, this was a major oversight on my part: I knew I had graduation today and I knew about the piano lesson and yet… I could saved myself all this stress if I would have found someone to drive L.
Graduation was HOT but cooler than last year. It also felt shorter than usual. I was talking to a few colleagues afterwards and they felt the same. Maybe the speeches were shorter?…
We then had fireworks and congratulated the graduates!
And that is a WRAP. Grades have been submitted, stuff put away, classroom locked.
Another academic year is in the books.
Today is my first official day of summer break. Plans: full body session at the gym (done), tidy the house, and a lunch date with my husband.
Also! Need to shop for our camping trip which is this weekend. It will not be glamorous. The kids want Dorito bag anchors which is what they will get.
