Saturday:

YMCA for me, gymnastics for the kids, and spring decluttering… for everyone.

T reorganized the hallway closet where we keep all of our bedding and some supplies. He took everything out then put it back in, just so nicely!

Plushies, towels and toilet paper -before

I went through my kids’ clothes and weeded out stuff that is too small or too worn out. We ended up with two big bags of clothes. Some will go to my kids’ former preschool, but most of it was sent out to be recycled.

I also asked the kids to try some stuff on – some of my son’s summer shirts from last summer were just fine, yet others were too small.

We ended up with a fair amount of spring/summer stuff that still fits.

Work in progress

I then took everything out of MY closet and ended up donating two pairs of leggings, a dress and a pair of trousers. Those items were too small and/or worn out. The dress was from 2016!

Sunday

I often listen to our local classical radio station: WNYC. Last week I heard that they were holding a series of events at Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Performances, workshops, craft stations, all connected to music and dance.

I gawked at how far Brooklyn is from here (1 hour and 20 minutes) but got over myself and bought tickets.

We were at the museum from about 10 to 2pm. It was packed but the kids had fun. A whole section of the museum was set up like a little village, with shops reflecting the communities of Brooklyn: Italian, Haitian, Chinese, Russian. There was a science section and a Color Lab where they made astronaut puppets based on Yinka Shonibare’s art.

We left shortly after the family-friendly performance of Peter and the Wolf.

After we were back, I read a little of my book and took a short nap.

Overall, a wonderful albeit tiring weekend.

This week is looking good except we have state testing that is always annoying. As I finish this post, we have a two hour delay at my school because they are clearing fallen trees. We had awful winds last night but didn’t lose power. I just hope they will not close the school! That means they may take days away from spring break. And I don’t want that.

Oh, happy St Patrick’s day!!

Made a trap yesterday!

The Brooklyn Children’s Museum looks amazing! It sounds like it was well-worth the effort to go. I wonder if you’ll catch a leprechaun?

I must declutter Minnie’s spring clothes. The other kids are pretty good about keeping their stuff up-to-date, but her clothes are a nightmare– WAY TOO MANY!

I need to declutter a bit more- especially closets in the guest room.

Weirdly, I am fixated on that toilet paper. Why is it all wrapped in…I don’t know what it’s wrapped in? I stared at that photo for so long I think I broke my brain (I just typed broke by brain, so clearly I DID)

Haha Nicole! You made me laugh. It’s some kind of recyclable paper that my husband gets on mail order.

What kind of toilet paper do you buy? We started getting mail order bamboo toilet paper during COVID lockdown, back when it was hard to find at the store. It comes wrapped like that, which seems wasteful to me, I’m not sure why they do it. We still get it though because it feels better for the planet than regular TP, though I will admit that I don’t like it as much, it’s not as soft.

The kids museum seems amazing! What a great day. And decluttering can be so satisfying!

This toilet paper… is also mail order and recyclable. We’ve been using it for a while now.

Oof- I hope you didn’t lose any days of school. That event at the museum sounds so fun!!! And, great job on getting some decluttering/organizing done. I’m supposed to be getting that done here- we did well for about a week but now have petered out, and there’s so much left to do.

Hope St. Patrick’s Day was fun and the leprechaun left something good!

I need to do MORE decluttering for sure. But a little bit each weekend.
