I just cannot shake this cold off me!

This whole week I’ve been coughing, sneezing, being congested, and nursing a soar throat. I noticed some students started looking at me sideways this morning. I pulled through till lunch (11am) then got my classes covered for the afternoon and came home early.

Been having tea and resting this afternoon. Read a few pages of Hamnet and then started anxiously scouring the Internet.

What was I looking for? I have no idea… But here is what I read:

1. This article from the Purse -a good piece about how earning a high income does not guarantee savings.

2. This article from Kelly Nolan on time saving strategies for working moms/women/both. Made me feel rather inadequate and crawl into a hole.

3. A podcast: Kate Bowler and Anne Lamott – funny, heartfelt, made me feel warm inside.

4. This article: what’s the deal with Quince? I do not own anything by Quince but always hear their advertising on podcasts that I listen to.

Unrelated:

The sky was on fire yesterday. A truly spectacular sunset!!

Things I am looking forward to:

  1. A lunch and learn at work this Friday.
  2. Also this Friday – a date night. Dinner and a movie.
  3. Saturday, hair salon for my daughter and I. Me – color and cut, my eight year old – her first “profesh” haircut
  4. Sunday- cycling class, skating with kids
  5. Monday- off for president’s day!

What is the latest rabbit hole we went down?

I don’t know if it’s the same cold we all have been fighting off here, but it’s brutal. It’s been like two weeks, and I am still coughing. Plus I did deadbugs yesterday and pulled a muscle in my side, which now hurts when I cough. That podcast sounds amazing—I love Kate Bowler and Anne Lamott.

I have never tried Quince, but I was looking for some nice light travel pants, and they came up, and they actually looked pretty good. I ended up not getting them in the end, as the shipping was not fast and I was about to leave. I have never heard any real person review them; I wonder if they are any good! I see their ads all the time too but figured it was due to the fact that I nearly bought the pants. I hope that you are feeling better soon!

When we were in Morocco, a few people kept ordering quince the fruit, and in my head I would be like “go to quince dot com and use code BOP for free shipping and returns.” This is how often I hear about Quince!

I used to listen to that podcast all the time, and then I kind of got bored and unfollowed. But! I love Anne Lamott so I should listen to that, maybe I’ll get back into it!

    What a gorgeous sunset!

Ugh, sorry you are feeling lousy. That sunset is amazing.

I just went down a rabbit hole last night. I read online about James Van Der Beek , the actor who passed away from colon cancer. He was just 48 and he had 6 kids. Heartbreaking. I used to watch Dawson’s Creek back in the day.

I was also so sad to read about James Van Der Beek’s death – also a Dawson’s Creek fan in my youth.

Sorry to hear about your cold that won’t go away, sounds like a nasty one! I’ve also had a cold this week, but its been mild luckily. Hope you finally kick it soon! I often fall down rabbit holes, usually on Youtube which is not ideal! I must listen to that podcast interview with Anne Lamott, I always enjoy her perspective. That’s fun you are planning to go to the hairdresser with your daughter, I’ve never done that with Eleanor, we’ve always cut her hair at home.

Hi Jenny! Yes she had a good time- her hair looks so sleek. My own hair looks so much better, too. I got rid of all the greys, maybe one day I’ll go grey but not yet.

I hope you’re all better now and looking forward to your extended weekend…

Nearly everyone on my floor at work has been sick, and we all have a wheezy aftermath :/

I went down the productivity rabbit hole you linked to as well–blown away by the number of people who seem to be using ChatGPT!
