On my way to work – Thursday morning

Physical health: I was struggling with when to fit the exercise in on weekdays. I ended up going to the ymca on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. It was cold and dark but I warmed up the car and that made it manageable. I did weights on Wednesday and Friday and I swam laps on Thursday.

On Saturday, the kids and I went to family swim at the Y. It was cold and tremendously windy. I wanna say maybe a -9F with the wind? But we HAD to get out of the house so we went. After about a 40 minute swim, we stopped by a waffle and boba tea place.

I tried something new- a hot matcha drink! I did not love it.

On Sunday morning I took a wonderful cycling class. The instructor took us through 40 minutes of cycling and then did upper body weights with us! So I really felt like I received a full body workout.

Overall, I am very happy with the amount of movement I got: Wednesday and Friday =weights, Thursday and Saturday=swim, Sunday=cycling with weights. Good job, me.

Mental health. Instability in our society and weak economy are constantly on my mind. The stock market and my husband’s volatile company that warned about possible layoffs at the end of February…

Thankfully, MY job is quite stable and medical coverage for the four of us is through MY employer.

Also, I constantly think about my parents. My dad recently fell into a depression. Mom is there (who is no better, mentally) as well as my brother. My dad used to be constantly busy- with peers, projects, his job. And now he is home all day, watching the news. Russia is cold and icy this time of year and his left side after the stroke is still not functioning properly. If he goes out for a walk and falls down… let’s not think about that.

Books. I finished Amity Gaige’s “Heartwood” this weekend and started Hamnet. Reading provides the necessary escape from the world at large.

This coming week is looking okay.

My husband is away in St Louis for a few days mid week. The kids have their usual activities: BJJ, piano.. I have my one appointment for PT (right knee). On Friday we have professional development after the students leave after 1/2 a day. Then my husband and I have a date night- probably go see a movie! The kids will be at the Y for “parents night out”.

Leaving you with a picture of a diva with a capital D during her “fashion show” on Sunday.

My kids have been into fashion shows and dressing up lately–it’s the best. Sorry to hear your dad’s health has been weighing so heavily on you. It seems like you are controlling what you can control given a lot of ambient unknowns and worry, which is about all anyone can do.

UGH. I hear you on reading to escape from the horrible, and it sounds like your exercise plan for the week went really well. We are joining the Y so the Min can get a spot in aftercare at her school next year as a back up in case my schedule changes on a day Ben is OOT, and I a actually looking forward to the group fitness classes.

Your diva is adorable!! I am sorry about all the things bringing you down. That is so hard. I hope T’s job is safe. It’s hard to worry about that.

Well done on all those workouts! Especially the before work ones! I am in nyc so drug myself to the hotel gym for a run on the treadmill. I enjoy the treadmill at OTF classes but I still hate just running on it without being told what to do. Tomorrow night I am going to an OTF class at a studio by my hotel, though. It will be a good way to cap off a long day with 7 meetings! 🤯

    Those boots! Definitely diva boots.

I sympathize with your concern for your loved ones so far away. These times are not easy.

Your Diva is super cute and stylish to boot. (pun, sort of intended) Good for you indeed on the workouts. I do not drink coffee or really much of anything besides water, so I got a chuckle out of you not enjoying the drink you tried. Hooray for the date night. I liked Heartwood, but I LOVE Hamnet. One of my fav books of all time – but I also love The Correspondent. I’m sorry about the stressful situation with your family back in Russia.
