The longest night of the year. Endurance, survival, turning toward the light. Renewal, days slowly getting longer.

This afternoon my son and I spent at my sister-friend’s house for Christmas/winter get-together. Lots of Danish hospitality!

The hostess is right next to me
My friend’s house is so lovely

R was getting lots of lovin’ from two of his aunties – hugs, kisses, mushies, and gifts.

Do you acknowledge or celebrate winter/summer solstice?

The title of my post is also about solstice. I wouldn’t say we do anything in honor of it but I am always relieved to know the days get longer from here on out! Your gathering with friends sounded fun!! I’m glad you got some social time in!!

I sure did! I remember I was lamenting to you that I have been feeling lonely since friends were tied up. But this get-together definitely filled my cup.

What a lovely way to celebrate! We did acknowledge it in our home! We were joking about how we took a nap on the shortest day of the year and forfeited some of our little sun to it 🤭

Hi Kim, sure was! It was a mash-up with solstice, Christmas, friend get-together, and Sunday brunch lol

What a lovely celebration! We have never done anything to celebrate winter solstice. I think most people are excited for longer daylight hours, but I really love this time of year, so I’m in no rush.

I acknowledged it to myself… quietly and gave thanks for longer days coming soon.

What a beautiful event! And what a great way to welcome the shift to more light in our lives.

I love seeing these beautiful decorations!

I don’t celebrate solstice particularly, but I notice that this year I am feeling really relieved knowing that daylight will be gradually getting longer now.

I don’t specifically celebrate the Winter Solstice, other that I am very happy that the days are getting longer again, but what a lovely get together!
