Today is a mix of preparation and rest.

But first, this kid, from last night ❤️

The upcoming week has me working and solo parenting since T is away on business. That means I’ll be the point parent for everything, and will need to hold it together better.

And by holding it together I don’t mean I’m falling apart, no. I mean I’d need to remember all of the little things to make the week go well. Things like, when they wear sneakers to school, when is jiu jitsu and when is piano and where we have enough uniforms that are clean.

Prepare for solo parenting week:

~ laundry, fold and put away (husband did that already)

~ make my outfits for the upcoming week

~ take inventory of food (what we have, what we need to eat, what we need to buy)

~ make lunches for tomorrow, for me the the kids.

Weather in New Jersey next week

Rest:

~ rest (for me) involves reading and/or napping. Most of the time, it’s both. (Just finished 😉

~ outside time: it is VERY windy out today, will need to bundle up

~ skates! After my husband leaves for his business trip in the afternoon, the kids and I are going skating. Skating has been so good for my soul.

What do you use your Sundays for? Do you do any kind of Sunday prep? Rest? A mix of both?

This month I am participating in #NaBloPoMo2025. A running list of participants can be found on San’s NaBloPoMo page as well as more information about this lovely initiative on this NaBloPoMo page.

Good luck with your week of solo parenting! I would be in NJ this week if not for the accident and it would have been my 5th week in a row of travel… eeks.

I usually try to make one of the 3 meals we make each week on a weekend tonight. I prepped most of the ingredients for the Asian rice noodle stir fry yesterday when Phil had the boys at his mom’s. I will make a pork pozole soup later this week and then we are getting take out. We always do laundry on the weekend, too, usually the last load is done on Sunday afternoon.

Since I work from home, and my daughter is an adult, weekends are pretty easy here. Not a lot to prep for. It looks like you have a good plan for tackling the week of solo parenting, and I’m glad that rest is part of it.

It sounds like you have a solid plan going into the week of solo-parenting. I definitely do a little bit of prep on Sunday, but mostly “planning” my week… not actually prepping anything (like meals or anything like that).

Your sunday sounded like a good mix of rest and preparation. My Sundays used to be for the long run, socialising, rest and church, but now it is church, socialising, rest and more church because I’ve changed my long run day.

I love the idea of “Rest and Prep.” I think that is really what most Sundays are for me, and I like that about Sundays. Sounds like you’re ready for a week of solo parenting, or as ready as you’ll ever be. I hope it goes off without a hitch! Do you get the whole week of Thanksgiving off, or only part of it?

I do laundry on Sunday – two girls wear school uniforms and I wash them on Sunday when I can pay attention to take them out of the dryer so they don’t wrinkle. We get groceries on the weekend and the last few times it’s been Sunday. I’ve delegated this to Coach the last two weeks and I’m crossing my fingers that this can become a habit. We also make a meal – I cooked, the little girls cut up all the veggies which saved me a ton of time. I worked on a lot of blog posts and got caught up on blog reading too.

Good luck this week with your solo parenting. You’ve got this!

I like my Sundays to be a mix- well, I would love for them to be all rest and fun, but that makes the week really hard. Some prep work really helps- and in your case I can see how it would be a necessity! I hope your week is going well.
