Trying to keep up with my “looking back at the new month and looking forward to a new month” posts. I’ve given up on them for a while, but I want to bring the habit back.

Taken in October

October is behind us. Little things I want to acknowledge to anchor this month in my memory are:

New York ComicCon

Cooler mornings

Hot coffee with pumpkin spice

Kill Hill book

Diwali

A new pair of ancle boots

Creating outfits on Sundays

Chili

And, a definite highlight: Halloween!

Some things to look forward to in November:

I have many days off in November so I am hoping to rest since September and October made me feel fried.

Skating

My daughter turns 8!

Thanksgiving

Q5 starts – a reflection and celebration season per SHU

Spend more time outside. November in NJ is still beautiful and I want to enjoy the crispness.

A day trip to NYC with the kids

Taken in November

What about you? What will you remember about October 2025? And what are you looking forward to in November 2025?

This month I am participating in #NaBloPoMo2025. A running list of participants on can be found on San’s NaBloPoMo page as well as more information about this lovely initiative on this NaBloPoMo page.

I love the first photo. Very beautiful. How come you have more days off in November? That is something to look forward to. Hopefully it will help you recharge your batteries. Our Grampians weekend was the highlight of October and in November we have a fun things planned, including a weekend away with friends and lunch out to celebrate our son’s and his fiance’s birthday.

Hi Melissa! We have our general Election Day, then NJ teacher convention – 2 days, then Thanksgiving -2 days! That’s in addition to regular weekends.

What big, beautiful leaves! My favorite thing about October was the cooler weather. It was still nice enough that I only needed a light jacket. Perfection!

October feels like it was part regular fall, part celebration for my husband’s 60th, and BIG part travel! Not a usual October but it sure was a fun one.

October was honestly such a blur.

Big stones in the month were Kae and SHU visiting, going to see my parents for a week, and moving forward on our plan to relocate to Europe for 4 months.

But it also feels like lots of “little” things happened, too. It was a BUSY month!

Yay to November birthdays-my dad’s birthday was today!

I love this time of year. The leaves are still on the trees, and they are beautiful. It feels like the calm before the holiday rush 🍂

This is a great idea. I love your lists. For me, my son’s Halloween wedding was the best of the best in October. I was also excited about getting all of my Christmas shopping finished. For November the bright spots are participating in Nablopomo and Thanksgiving of course.

Gah. October. It was A MONTH. I’ll remember all the love and care I received from those near and far. I’ll remember the terror I felt at times and the sleepless nights. But i will also remember how we maintained a sense of normalcy to the extent possible. Life kept on lifing, as it does. The kids had a blast at some Halloween events and the school fall festival; we all enjoyed the pumpkin event at the zoo; and trick or treating was a very fun albeit damp/cold night.

In November I will take Paul to The Grinch at the children theater (Taco decided he is scared of the grinch so won’t be joining us). I will also celebrate Thanksgiving and hope and pray that Phil doesn’t get accosted by a family member for the way we vote (we vote differently than basically all of my immediate family) like he did last year… he is going to lay into the family member if that happens again this year and I can’t blame him. Oh family, it is so complicated at times.

Ugh, politics at a dinner table, classic… For us, thanksgiving will be quiet, just us and the two of Tony’s friends-a couple. My sister-friends may come, too, but it haven’t been confirmed yet. Then it’s Lyra’s 8th birthday on the 28, a Friday , so we will have a party for her at the house. Last year we had it at her gymnastics place and it was meh. House parties are better. Yes there is clean up and stuff but I don’t know, I’d rather do it here.

I am usually not a pumpkin spice fan but this November, I want to give it another try. Do you have a brand you recommend? Is it powder?

I am enjoying the rain in November! It actually feels like Fall after temps in the 80s for the past couple of weeks. I am also very much looking forward to a holiday next Tuesday, then a week off for Thanksgiving and then only a few weeks before Winter Break. This has been a hard semester. I am ready for it to be done. But, only if I can get all the tasks done I need to get done!

I love this time of year because it seems like there’s so much to look forward to in November/December. We have some school concerts, football games, and then of course Thanksgiving (when my son will be home!) And I just generally love the happy anticipation of Christmas.

October 2025 was one for the record books: I start the month in London on a fun trip with my mom and ended it in my brand-new apartment. There’s a lot to be grateful for from October!

November sounds like a month of celebration.

Fall air is so nice. It was rather mild here this weekend almost too warm fr my taste in fall.
