School year 2025-2026 was officially over yesterday! We had our graduation, hugged and wished the students well and said goodbye for the summer. Always a very bitter-sweet moment. Reading the backs of their caps. One of my best students, Olivia, is going to Tufts. I wouldn’t expect anything less for her. Note to self- email her to congratulate. I had her during her sophomore year in my Spanish 3 honors class.
During the 2 hour ceremony, all the students and faculty roasted outside in NJ heat in our academic gowns. Those of us in doctoral gowns were ready to faint (the double layer of velvet 🥵). My colleague insisted on taking my picture in my garb minus the doctoral mushroom hat:
After the graduation, I went straight home, and got into a cool shower. I was so overheated!
Last night was interesting. T and I watched a show then put the kids to bed. I was savoring the end of the year and anticipating the travels I have to do this summer: Russia and France. I read my book and went to sleep relatively early.
Today the kids and I had off. So we went to the beach. Our very first beach outing! We left early- at around 7am, and were one of the first ones on the beach. Stayed for about 3 hours, drove back right in time for thunderstorms.
Tomorrow the kids have school and I have off. Will prepare for my Russian trip 🧐😏 but that deserves a whole new post.
