My morning started with mending some clothes: a button on L’s dress, a few seams that fell apart on her romper, a button on my blue CeCe blouse, and a serious seam rip on my “french” top. This task has been hanging over my head for at least 6 months, if not longer. Each time I would reach for those items, I’d go “gah!!” Feels good to get it done.

I then went to Macy’s to try on some dresses. I wanted to get a new dress for myself to wear at R’s preschool graduation. All but one dresses looked great on hangers but not on me. The one coral dress by K Lagerfeld was cute but not cute enough to shell out $199.

After coming home, had a delicious afternoon nap, accompanied by a podcast where a scientist was discussing the power of sleep.

Read more of “Meditation for Mortals” by Oliver Burkeman. The book is broken into twenty eight chapters, one for each day of the month. I don’t feel like I am connecting with everything the author has to say but, so far, my favorite sections are on toxic productivity, people pleasing, and not making the feelings of other people your problem which I often have a tendency to do.

After I got the kids from school, we came home, freshened up, and went to R’s friend birthday party. The place was sort of an arcade and an indoor playground. The bumper cars were the best while the zombie movie scares us.

Ready to drive and bump!

What a great Friday, it sounds like maybe you are done with school for the year?

The podcast on sleep looks really interesting. 🙂

That party looks so fun. I haven’t been on bumper cars in…decades.

I think you’re meeting Maya today, so what a fun, fill-your-cup kind of weekend. I know you need that and I hope it’s every bit as refreshing as you hope it will be.

I hate sewing and also let tasks like that pile up. It feeling disproportionately amazing to cross it off the list, especially when it’s been languishing there for a while. Gold stars!

I went dress shopping (for a wedding) too recently and why is it so hard to find a dress. I tried so many and so many looked good on the hangers but didn’t look good on me. Maybe next time, we both have to try the ones that look awful on the hanger… maybe they’ll look good on us 🙂 (P.S. I hope you find a dress for the graduation!).

I have some clothes that need mending. More than 6 months. I really need to sit down and just do it. Will probably take not as much time as I make it out to be.

The Friday sounds like it was a good one.
