Mother’s Day. I had a lovely Mother’s Day. I am not big on Mother’s Day due to a variety of reasons (didn’t grow up with this holiday and I am estranged from my own mother). But when the holiday rolls around, I enjoy it the best I can. My kids wrote cards, gifted me some Russian books because “mom doesn’t have any Russian books”, went out for breakfast, and had a really nice day and weekend. I read my book, T took out our outside couch and chairs, I finished my puzzle. Neighbor kids came over to do the trampoline. I napped.

On Monday I took the morning off work to go to R’a preschool for Mother’s Day brunch.

The jacket is a hand-me-down from my Russian friend, the bow tie is from T 🙂

The rest of the week was hard. Teaching in May takes on an air of desperation where we babysit students more than we teach them. I am exaggerating, of course, but in all of my classes I’ve been “pulling teeth” with the material. Feeling tired at the end of my days. Teaching is not hard per se, it’s hard at the end of the year when everyone (including me) is DONE.

I had trouble falling asleep and wondered if it’s related to work stress. On Wednesday we had major rain in NJ therefore, flooding on major roads.

Patting myself on the back for:

Bringing R to jiu jitsu twice

Doing yoga three times (15 min each)

Swinging by the library! Once on Wednesday, once on Friday. My new book is very poignant- “Overwork” by B. Schulte.

Getting a haircut. My hair was too long and it was getting tangled. My neck feels so much better with shorter hair.

Starting a new show “The Perfect Couple”. Nicole Kidman, Liev Shriver, Dakota Fanning. Filthy rich+whodunnit. Gorgeous Nantucket views.

Going to bed early on Wednesday and Thursday to reset my system from an awful Tuesday night when I just could not fall asleep.

This weekend is looking good. In spite of the fact that T will be away next week and I’ll be me and the kiddos. I do need to prepare: get groceries, plan out some meals. Tidy the house. As always, laundry.

Ideally, on Saturday I want to rest by reading, walking, napping. On Sunday I want to go to the beach.

How about you? How was your week? Do you go to the library often? Or do you prefer digital platforms such as Hoopla or Libby? Any shows you are into right now?

I’m glad that you had a nice Mother’s Day! You deserved it! I can imagine that the end of the school year is exhausting for students and teachers! I’m tired just thinking about it! I love the library, but lately I’m just using their online services. Thank goodness for online library services!

    I’m glad you had a lovely Mother’s Day :).

I usually don’t have to teach in May, except when I do this travel term… I can understand your fatigue. I”m ready to be done too!

Imagine how glorious summer will be!!

I use Libby for when I travel, but I don’t generally like to use my Kobo outside of travel – I prefer paper books. I always have a stack from the library! And that reminds me, I need to pick up a hold today.

I’m at the library right now! We go pretty much every Saturday morning. Our library had a library passport for the summer so we will try to check out different branches for some novelty! I almost exclusively check out ebooks through Libby, though. The boys get physical books.

I am glad you had a nice Mother’s Day! It’s not a big holiday for me either. I view it like Valentine’s Day. The boys made something for me at school, though, so that was fun!!

Glad you made the best of Mothers Day eve though its not a big thing and a strange holiday for you.

I am sorry the end of school year is so busy and hard.

Your weekend sounds relaxing though. Hope you could enjoy it.

Mine was ok, Should have been relaxing but the husband tested Covid positive and is not doing well. I am not totally fine either but so far I have no Covid. fingers crossed.

I prefer digital platforms but wished I could read it on Kindle (which I can’t).
