Lucky ducks with green ice cream on St. Patrick’s day

This week has been… okay. Long. And at times frustrating and exhausting.

Highlights include St. Patrick’s day on Monday, Brazilian jiu jitsu on Tuesday, physical therapy for my neck on Wednesday, and an unexpected visit from baba Tanya (my Russian friend Anna’s mom), and an Irish dance performance in Morristown on Friday night- with my daughter. A 6 month dental cleaning, not fun but necessary.

Excellent, uplifting evening of Irish music and dance at MPAC in Morristown, NJ

Other thoughts…

1. I am still- STILL- getting over the time change. I drag my feet in the morning then can’t fall asleep at night. I started taking magnesium to help me wind down in the evening.

2. There are some changes at work. We had a supervisor change in the middle of the year and somehow, somewhere, the necessary world language honors program was overlooked. Long story short, at the moment we have students who qualify may not get in, and that hurts. They have the potential and the work ethic, they have my support, and they’d be great for honors Spanish.

3. A post by Rachel in regards to working moms vs stay at home moms really resonated with me. I wrote quite an entry reacting to it. There are other excellent comments there, too.

4. This blaser/jacket on R:

St Patrick’s day number

5. Mademoiselle with my heels on..

7. Out and about in the yard on Wednesday

8. Our dishwasher no longer sprays water, needs a part, in the mean time, we get by handwashing the dishes and memes like that:

9. A tree fell down in the “wilderness” part of our back yard. Had lots of real estate in it.

10. Anne Lamott. Because she is Anne Lamott.

11. Pre-show tacos last night with L and us at the intermission.

This weekend

Gymnastics, last session of skates, and piano. Did yoga through Peloton app, tidied the house, folded some laundry (still have to put it away).

Notice BB-8 peeking out

Also Saturday, going to Iftar at my friend F’s house. A very small group of friends breaking fast together after Ramadan.

Sunday we are entirely open so will plan a menu for the week (been bad with that), read Lamott’s book, plan some activities for our Outer Banks road trip. Do yoga. Spend time outside.

Want to also write a post about my road trip wish list (so many states I still want to see) and our upcoming Outer Banks spring break road trip (itinerary, packing, ideas).

How is your weekend looking? And, how was this past week for you?

The Irish dance show sounds wonderful, and you & L look so gorgeous all dressed up! And R is so cute in his St. Patrick’s day outfit! I don’t envy you that pile of laundry though! 😁

Hahaha that meme reminds me of my MIL’s appliances. She has a fridge from the early 80s, which still works, and the chest freezer from the year she was married, 1962. It’s still going! It probably uses up more energy than the rest of the street combined, but still going!

That “eternal fridge” meme – yes!!!!

My in-laws have an electric 2-stove range from the 60’s that is more reliable than anything we could buy today.

That’s neat that part of back yard is wild! The tree looks amazing, from the scientific/wildlife point of view. It’s always a bit scary when the trees come crashing down, but sounds like it was well away from your house.

R in a blazer and poncho, L’s great smiles for the camera (no awkwardness at all) kudos!

Are you liking yoga on the Peloton? I canceled my Mirror subscription, and mean to explore the Peloton. I already like the The YouTube channel with Adrienne that J introduced me to.

And I’d love to hear more about your acupressure mat that you mentioned somewhere.

Hi! I really AM liking yoga on Peloton but it’s only been 2 weeks. I think I will continue, since it’s so easy and accessible.
My torture device? LOL Yes, I love it, at first I was like ow, ow, ow, ouch! Now I can fall asleep on it. Here is the link: https://a.co/d/assPxI0

Oh, and I lie on it before bed almost every night- for about 10 minutes if I don’t fall asleep. It’s incredible.

So true about older appliances! They really seemed to last so much longer back when I didn’t have to buy them. 🤣

I love Anne Lamott too! I found that book in a used bookstore, and it was a signed copy!

I’m still dragging from Daylight Savings Time.

I have magnesium every day to help with migraines but when I do a hard workout or gym session I will have a little extra to settle my nervous system. I think it really can help.

That meme! We took my parents very old fridge after we were married and we got some good years out of it.
