This was a busy week. I do not enjoy the feeling of being busy, so need a space to lay it all out… This blog is a FIG for me 🙂
Work. I knew I will be out for two days so the three days that I was at work were extra critical. I gave multiple assessments for both levels the week before and aimed to grade them before the conference. Didn’t want anything be hanging over my head. Plus, substitute plans- that takes a while. BUT. When I shut down my computer at 3pm on Wednesday, I felt a sense of accomplishment. Fig!

Physical therapy: Monday and Wednesday Fig!

L’s parent- teacher conference happened on Tuesday. Received very complimentary feedback about L’s learning and work ethic. She will be put into a group with her peers that are moving toward project-based learning since she mastered the basic 1st grade concepts. As a teacher myself, I see how much her teachers are doing. Can’t help but feel grateful.

T attended R’s parent-teacher conference at his preschool. R is ready for kindergarten, can count up to 104 (??? Lol), and is starting to read. T does “words” with him every other night but I sometimes wonder if it’s memorization or true reading?… R does sound the letters out (psst, it is so cute to hear him do that). Fig!
Conference. Sharpening the professional saw for the two days is one giant, juicy FIG!
Staying overnight, for two nights, in the best city on Earth (biased), in a teeny-tiny hotel room in midtown Manhattan. FIG!

Thursday morning was an intense morning because I had to take a very early train into NYC. I say intense only because I had to wake up super early. While on the train, I put on some make up, read, figured out the workshops I have interest in… Changed trains in Newark, and took a train to Penn station.
At first I wanted to take the subway to 57th street, but then decided to walk. From Penn station to Hilton midtown is a good 25 minute walk up 6th avenue. I felt good, just walking and looking at shop windows and pigeons. FIG!
Two three-hour workshops ran from 8:30 to about 3:30. With a lunch break of course. NYC has so many lunch options and I went to UrbanSpace. A food court of sorts but with no Wendy’s or Burger King. I was feeling something hot so I ordered lunch from Tomo Tomo, a Japanese booth. Yummy fig!

I was done at 4, walked to the hotel, checked in, dropped off my bag. Walked to Murray Hill for an aromatherapy massage. Parts of it were painful, but at the end so yummy. Another fig!
Dinner was salad in the hotel room and an episode of Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix. I am not sure if I liked the show but the main character’s eye makeup up is #lifegoals.

Today is another day of workshops! I Check out this FIG sign on one of the streets this morning.

Linking up with Elisabeth for this awesome initiative! Looking forward to reading other bloggers’ awesome fresh figs!
