A few days ago, I sat down and sketched out February of 2025 and looked back on January of 2025.
January was a month where I felt the need to look within.. It felt like a long month, and I yearned for introspection, coziness, and alone time.
A few general highlights:
~ a few long stretches of cold weather in New Jersey
~ R’s 5th birthday
~ annual physicals (me, L, and R)
~ some dental work for T
~ got serious about budgeting (paid for Monarch). It’s been excellent.
~ instituted family meetings (but only had one. ha.)
~completed my habit tracker (I have my mornings back, yesss)
~ went to a Korean spa with L!
~ went to a monster jam with R!
~ kept up with gymnastics, piano, and Brazilian jiu jitsu (for the kids)
~ kept up with yoga and meditation (for me)
~ the end of the marking period at my job
~ a date with T (after many months of not being able to find a sitter).
~ instituted a chore/attitude chart for the kids
What I am not satisfied with: we did not celebrate Lunar New Year the way I wanted to (no Asian food, no theater performance, no craft). Although I am Russian, my city is on the Asian part of Russia, and Lunar New Year is celebrated every year in Russia due to having a big Asian population there. I have very good memories of those celebrations when I was little.
I want the Wooden Snake to be kind to us all! Apparently, 2025 will look for flexibility, rebirth, connection to nature (the wood element), insight, shedding the old and the toxic and welcoming the new.
Out of all the pictures in my camera roll for January I am sharing this one:

February Things to Look Forward To:
T’s 44th birthday (restaurant reservation and sitter confirmed)

A professional day on 02-14 , no students, just colleagues
