December 26, Thursday. Boxing Day!

On my mind… I am seeing a lot of posts with people setting goals and just give them all to me! I have also been thinking about goals or intentions or whatever those things are… So far, I have not written anything down but I will need to dedicate some time to assessing my 2024 goals, and setting some intentions for 2025.

Today… we slept in. Till 6! The usual morning routine: coffee, books, piano. Conversation time. The kids shared what they dreamt about. Some time with new toys. Some TV time.

Morning shenanigans

Then, at around 9AM – you guessed it- yoga for me! This was a wonderful class, and, who am I kidding? Yoga is always wonderful. Each day, classes are different, but still wonderful in their own way.

After yoga, a quick lunch of borscht, we bundled up, and went out. The kids went “mom, where are we going?” Me: “I have no clue, somewhere?…” We went to scoot in the park. It was cold but not miserably cold, so they brought their scooters, and scooted some, and walked some, and did time at the playground. It was awesome, AWESOME to get out into fresh air.

After that time outside, we came home, had a snack. T was leaving for Maine since his closest friend lost her mom back in December, so he was going to the wake which is tomorrow. We gathered our things (water, gi, sketchbook, pencils) and went to jiu jitsu. T shortly left for the airport. Jiu jitsu was good – R wrestled, I planned and chatted with a mom friend, L sketched. R received his second stripe on his belt! Making progress at jiu jitsu.

After jiu jitsu, the kids were like “we can’t eat left overs anymore.” I felt the same so we went to a casual Italian restaurant. They had a slice of pizza each while I had sausage, with pasta and broccoli rabe. Then R went to play with his friend B (who is our neighbor) and I will pick him up when I finish writing this post.

Overall, this was a good, balanced day of rest and activity. Tomorrow, T is in Maine, so it’s just me and the kiddos. I have virtual yoga class in the morning, then we need to get a new car inspection for me (mine expires this month), then I promised we’ll go to the Kids’ Empire – an indoor playground near our house.

Sorry to clogging your feed lately: this post is part of my personal writing challenge to document our winter break this year.

What a lovely day, love that you made it count!

I’m at the “cannot eat leftovers anymore” point too. Plus I want something fresh and crunchy.

No clogging of feeds! I love to hear how you’re spending your break. I haven’t had many teachers in my feed over the years, so I rarely get to see what others do with these long stretches in the middle of the year. Especially teachers with kids! I love that you’re doing yoga most days, and getting outside. We’ve had a lot of rain, but today it’s supposed to be better and we’re heading to our amusement parks WinterFest tonight. I’m looking forward to getting outside a bit.

Getting outside is THE BEST. For me, the problem is to force myself (and kids) to get dressed and ready and actually step outside. It feels so good to walk around in the brisk air – its been just around freezing here and no wind, perfect for walks.
