December 25, Wednesday
I was not in a good shape this morning since overdoing it on the Shiraz last night 😬😮💨 but, as the day progressed, I felt better.

R was also up in the night because he dreamt of spiders (his words), so he slept in until 8. In the morning, L was up first, the R shortly after. They had a quick bowl of Lucky Charms, and started opening their gifts! I took about one million pictures. In short, the kids made out like bandits, again.
Just for my own memory-keeping, here is what they got:
A connect four game
A Candyland game
A few National Geographic project kits: one to dig for gold, another to grow crystals, another is creating a terrarium.
A balloon animal kit
Soaps in spray cans. It’s super fun. It’s actual soap but put in a spray can, you can draw with it, and do all kids of fun things. In the shower.
Lego kits: Wicked and Millenium Falcon
Two transformer toys for R
A sketch pad and colored pencils for L
T-shirts for R
Two fun turtlenecks, a sequined dress, and new leggings for L
Smithsonian “Earth” book and Star Wars my first reader books for R
Magical Creatures book and Nat Geo student atlas books for L
Two light sabers for both
Two scooters for both
Their stockings had hollow chocolate Santas, stickers, a small bracelet-making kit, a lip balm.
A lot of stuff. So much for me reflecting how we “build a fence” around Christmas. But, I am glad that much of the stuff is project kits to occupy their time, or legos (something to do, develops brain and patience), or something to read or wear. The Santas will be eaten. The giant books will be referred to throughout the year.

At the end the house was a huge mess, because the wrapping paper is everywhere. Packaging everywhere. The kids played with their new treasures pretty much the whole day. We went outside for a bit. Ate some of the leftover food from last night.
This post is part of my personal writing challenge to document our winter break this year.
