Up at 6am… The usual : coffee, quiet time, and then went to yoga. The house needed tending to since we had a Christmas Eve party in the evening. Laundry was piling up also.

Read some blogs, caught up on a few comments. Read my book.

Then it was time to put out the luminaries in the afternoon.

Our town has a luminaries program where on Christmas Eve the residents put out paper bags, filled with sand and a tall candle. Along the sidewalks. At 4:30pm, they light the candles so the streets are lined with these lights or luminaries. It’s a tremendously beautiful sight. On Christmas Day, the bags are cleaned up.

Our Christmas Eve party was good. T made a roast, a ham, mashed potatoes, corn, Brussel sprouts, and buns. I did the easy part: appetizers. We had about 10 people, 5 of them kids of various ages. While the adults talked the kids ran around upstairs, played “spies”, and loaded up on cookies and chocolate covered pretzels. I overdid it on Shiraz. 😬

The prep work

This post is part of my personal writing challenge to document our winter break this year.

OMG! We used to do luminaries in my little Ohio town where I grew up! So beautiful!

I’ve definitely overdone it on Shiraz a time or two, especially when my kids were little. 🤣
