The other day I mused on how I am wanting to buy certain things, mainly clothesToday I ended up buying exactly zero items. No green velvet dress, no Bernardo winter coat, no golden shoes. I very well could have but, honestly, I don’t need them. I have two winter jackets (my red wool coat from Sam Edelman and my burgundy puffer from Avec Les Filles). I have dresses that I can wear, and I most definitely have shoes.

Part of me is: it’s Black Friday darnittt. Another part of me is wellll done, Daria. I had items I wanted to purchase but I just didn’t. Oh well. There is always Cyber Monday, small business Saturday and whatever else for Sunday?.. An artisan Sunday? I don’t know.

On the family front, this is the third day the kids are home from school, and we are driving each other bonkers. T and I are both bored out of our minds. I don’t do well with a lot of unstructured time, and I think he is the same way. It’s not like I can work uninterrupted on a project while the kids are happily wrestling each other. I tried reading while they play but it’s not enjoyable for me, to hear their conversation and know that we may need to referee at any moment.

It’s wet and rainy so we can’t really spend a lot of time outside. However, this morning the sun peeked out, so I bundled the kids up and “don’t come back until I call you back.” They were in the back yard for a while! Then it started raining again.

This morning

L is loving her potion making kit! And I love the fact that she loves it. BUT. Any kind of chemistry means mess, and I am uptight about messes so it’s been hard for me not to give her 1,000 reminders to wash her hands.

One of the many potions she made

In other news, lunch and dinner were turkey plates. Tomorrow, we are ordering in something else. Anything BUT turkey.

I went to yoga this morning and had a rough time, felt bloated and inert. That’s okay- each class is different, each day is different.

Pic on the front: a gorgeous Japanese maple in our front yard, just bursting with color!

Any purchases today for you? Or did you end up not buying anything?

I did buy something today – an eye cream that a friend that knows a ton about skin care recommended. My under eye circles are terrible so I am desperate to try something else but kind of doubt it will be magical.

We had 2 busy days – Thanksgiving at my brother’s yesterday, today we hosted family for an early bday party for taco. The boys had my grand parents here to play games with and such so that helped. But I am worn out.

I also enjoyed a buy nothing Black Friday. I’m intrigued by the potions. What fun! Your Japanese Maple is so gorgeous!

I ordered my Holiday Cards on Friday, but other than that, it was a Buy Nothing Day for me too this year.

Buy Nothing over here; I did my holiday shopping early because of upcoming travel. But I find it impressive in families with younger kids like yours, because I was always succumbing to the temptation to “buy one more thing” when the kids were younger.
