Happy Thanksgiving to my blog friends in the US!

Today was Thanksgiving AND L’s seventh birthday!

Some highlights from today…

Opening gifts at 6am

R was up earlier than anyone and came downstairs. I came down shortly after and then L. The birthday girl opened her gifts while I had coffee. The kids then wanted to make potions (one of L’s gifts) so I supervised that for a while. They then moved onto the science kit.

“hmmmmm, sharks…”
Potion kit: making dragon drops

T started cooking at around 10am and realized he forgot to get stuffing when he went shopping for Thanksgiving. I wanted to get out of the house so I volunteered to drive to the store and pick up stuffing. It was cold and rainy. The store was HOPPING with people like me that were picking up a few last minute things.

Watching some Star Wars to pass the time

The kids wanted to watch Star Wars (okay), and I sat for a bit in my office, looking at lodging options for Paris.

A view from my office window.

At around 1pm, everything was ready, and we sat down to eat. We had two of our close friends join us today. It was lovely.

Turkey is ready!

After dinner, T spent some time with our friends while I slowly started cleaning the kitchen. T is a very good cook, and he enjoys cooking, while I wouldn’t even know how to make a full Thanksgiving meal. He takes care of everything. So I don’t mind cleaning afterwards.

Birthday girl

After we cleaned up, we did cake for L: dimmed the lights and sang to her! My “baby” is seven!

Happy Birthday, L! That cake looks AMAZING and I love, love, love her fancy dress. I’d wear it if it came in my size.

Hooray for birthdays. The days are long but the years are short!
