We are staying on a farm in Lancaster Co., PA. The description said “kids will have morning chores.” Me: “we’ll be there, not a minute late!”
The chores are VERY hands on. L milked a cow:

Both kids fed the chickens and gathered eggs:

Then the kids gave the pigmy goats their minerals

And mixed pig food.

After the morning chores, we had breakfast on the farm, along with the hosts and other families. The hosts are sixth generation in this farm so there is a lot of history. I then wondered what it may be like to have such deep roots since I uprooted myself at 20 and moved across the ocean to an entirely different country.
After breakfast was a Strasburg railroad train ride. We actually passed the farm where we are staying! Recognized it from our window.

After the train ride, I felt like I needed a nap, so we went back to the farm, rested (rather, I rested, they watched cartoons). After, a long drive through the rolling hills, some covered bridges, some gorgeous views, and a local creamery with amazing and cheap ($5.30 for three ice creams!) Amish ice cream.

We finished the day at a local brewery called Bespoke Brewery. I tried a sampler of four different beers, the kids did Legos. Pulled pork sandwich and a hot dog with French fries. Thursday night was their slow night, just a few tables occupied, so it was perfect.
