Halloween 2024 is in the books! Whew what a day it was.
Firstly, it was 80 degrees. In New Jersey, at the end of October. Everyone was roasting in their costumes, especially the kids who had costumes with face and head pieces (transformers, Sonics, Stitches, animals, etc). I was hot in my long sleeve Victorian witch dress!
I ran from work to meet T at L’s school for a “Boo to Drugs” parade. The school district is not using the word Halloween, and I have mixed feelings about it. But I understand why. Pagan holiday and all.

My son’s school called their parade a Harvest Festival but all the decor was that of Halloween: spooky, scary, whimsical. Very little of actual harvest. I guess anything but the word “Halloween.”
After the harvest fest, R’s preschool had a Trunk-or-Treat. It was a wonderful event. The preschool is public and free for everyone regardless of income but they really went above and beyond. The teachers and staff were in the parking lot, with their car trunks decorated and treats ready. L went to this preschool before R so her teachers gave her hugs, it was so special.

There where many, many more vehicles that was just so cool. So very thankful to both L and R’s school for such fun stuff.
But guess what? Halloween wasn’t over by then. We went home, took off our hot costumes, rested for about 40 minutes, freshened up, and went out to trick-or-treat with our neighbors from a variety of locations in town. We had about 15 families all going around the block? It was awesome. Instead of talking about it, let me just spam you with pictures.

Anywho. Halloween was fun, we have tons of candy, and I brought half of it to my school today- high school students will happily ate some of it.
My kids had about three candies each (so this a tootsie roll, plus a small bag of gummies, plus a small square of chocolate). And that was enough. But of course, there had to be drama:

Hope you all had a sweet Halloween!
