On Thursday, after yoga (yep, still going because $$) I took myself to Barnes and Noble book store. Treated myself to a caramel macchiato. Sat there for an hour perusing magazines and books. Did not purchase anything else, just the coffee.

Thursday night: a date with T! We saw Longlegs, a horror movie. It was okay. The trailer built it up so much for me that the movie itself was disappointing.

Friday I could not go to yoga because I met up with a long-time friend and a former colleague for breakfast. And afterwards… I think I just came back home and had some alone time?.. I probably read, did laundry, picked up the house.

Saturday and Sunday the kids were home so we made sure to spend time with them. We have been getting thunderstorms almost every day, and they are welcome! At least a thunderstorm breaks the heat a little bit and waters my roses.
Saturday morning, R was invited next door to play with his friend. L practiced her piano/fooled around. Then they each did a project: R was building a volcano, and L decorated a water bottle. I called my dad in Russia and chatted with him, feeling sad after hanging up.

We then went to the mall since I needed to go to Sephora to buy something for dark spots on my face, plus I wanted a new scent. Over the course of fall and winter I had a Tory Birch set of teeny tiny bottles that had since been used up. After smelling about 5 scents, I settled on a very small bottle of Jo Malone. Rose and green tea? Don’t remember.
After Sephora, lunch was at the Cheesecake Factory.

Sunday was beach day but first we went for a nice morning walk.

We left later than usual and it took us… wait for it… THREE hours to get to our beach spot (this trip takes about 1 hour). Traffic was unbelievable. The beach we go to – Sandy Hook- is part of a federal area that has about 8 different beach areas. Only three were open due to the crowds. Oof
I wasn’t a happy camper and neither were the kids. But, we arrived, parked, and went to the bay side. It has a lot of rocks- huge boulders- that can be interesting to play on.

A few hours later…

I want to take the time to also write about the project that T is working on right now. The back stairs. The house is old, these stairs were sinking and rotting, we had a wasp nest under there. It was time. This project is kicking T’s butt- he had to rent a jack hammer from Home Depot to remove some concrete underneath. Anyway, it’s a boatload of work, so,honey, if you are reading- thank you.
