Thank you to everyone who read my post about mom. I needed a few days to digest. Writing that post was painful but, at the same time, made me feel lighter. I need to continue examining this relationship with compassion while setting boundaries.

This week was okay. T was away so just me and the kids, but all is well.

Work is busy since I am in process of scrubbing my final exams and study guides! I want to have them ready for students when they take theirs finals the second week of June. School year is coming to an end.

Have started packing up my classroom! The bulletin boards are down, the decor is packed up. The hanging paper holders are put away. Next week I will go through all of my file folders and recycles any duplicates for each unit in both levels. Everything is digital anyway, but I do like my paper folders.

I do use digital organization in Drive, for lesson plans, activities, presentations. I have two digital folders: one called “Start of the School Year” and another called “End of the School Year” have exact procedures that I do at the beginning and at the end.

The end of school process is bitter-sweet because soon we will say goodbye, and I don’t do well with goodbyes.

Mother’s Day was very quiet. We went out to breakfast at our regular diner. Then I just had time to myself while the kids and T did something… Played, watched movies, fought. You know, same old, same old.

Lovely flowers 💐

This weekend… I’m going to lie low. Will probably putter around the house, do some laundry, read. Maybe even get a nap. Walk around in my bare feet.

What’s on tap this weekend for you?

That is smart to have start and end of the year processes documented. I love to document things I do repetitively because it helps release some of the mental load! My new hire is really pushing me to document more which is a good thing. Too much is up in my brain.

I am glad that writing that post was cathartic for you. Sending you so many hugs! I hope you get some downtime this weekend – you especially earned it after solo parenting! We have a date night tomorrow night which I am looking forward to. We really need the time to connect away from the kids. It’s to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary which is on Sunday!

Wow, you are so organised. Such a smart idea to have you start and end processes all worked out and documented to make the transitions easier. Sometimes, low-key is the best way to celebrate. I’m glad to got some time all to yourself.

I’m so sorry about the difficulties with your mother. What a sad, traumatic life she has had. You’re pretty amazing to break that cycle and be able to set healthy boundaries with her.
