This week is….. blergh!!! For the most part. Things I need to get off my chest are below.

1. New Jersey weather was in the 80s and I am not wearing skirts because I am feeling self-conscious of my pale and veiny legs. I have some self-tanning liquid somewhere so I’m going to use it this weekend. The vanity.

2. Meru therapy app is kind of annoying. Every day it sends notifications for mindfulness activities for me to do. The recovering people pleaser that I am, I’m doing them. Plus I get texts from the therapist. I had to eat my lunch mindfully the other day and I felt bored, annoyed, and fidgety. But the meditations are nice. This week’s theme is “getting off autopilot.”

3. Solo week- just the kids and I. It’s also teacher appreciation week. I had to run to Target yesterday to create baskets for the four teachers (2 for L, 2 for R). Chocolates, tea, lotion, face masks. Then I stopped by the Shop Rite to get gift cards for L’s aftercare teachers on Thursday.

Received such a nice note from the teacher’s aid that I work with ❤️

4. Azores came up on the United app- anyone ever been? Azores looks like a good alternative to the Canary Islands which are having some over tourism problems at the moment. How about the Julian Alps? Looks so beautiful.

5. “Ditching mom guilt” episode from What Fresh Hell podcast was amazing.

6. Did not put a rain jacket on L on Tuesday morning and it rained #momguilt

7. Work is going well. In Spanish 3, I created a protect where they had to research and act like a journalist or a tv anchor of Hispanic heritage. In Spanish 2, they are preparing for a debate: City vs Country. Some students are arguing pro city and against country, and some are arguing pro country and against city. Can’t wait!

8. The kids built a “maze” in the living room from the couch cushions on Monday. It’s now Friday and the maze is still there. 😑

“We will clean it up, mom!” I’ve heard it all before.

9. I keep waking up with headaches! Not alcohol related since I don’t drink during the week. My bed time and wake times are consistent. Dehydration? Perimenopause?

That’s all I have for today. Happy Friday, everyone!

Do you take a magnesium supplement? I have heard that it helps with headaches, especially ones caused by hormones.

I think I would ditch that therapy ap. Do you need more things to do that you don’t want to do right now? Maybe you are suffering from end of the year ennui? And you will feel better when the school year is over? I think working with a real live therapist who can speak to your needs and not a scripted program would be better but it would also be hard to schedule therapy during the school year. So you could make it a summer project when you have a bit more margin?

Ooof, 80 degrees sounds way too hot. I don’t do well in the heat. The therapy app does sound rather annoying. Can you change the notifications in the settings? The teacher appreciation gifts are such a nice thought – and I’m glad you got a nice note! The maze made me smile!

I feel like recognizing that you are bored, annoyed, and fidgety is a successful mindfulness session!

Feeling blergh and headaches could certainly be hormonal. Be gentle with yourself. Coming up to the end of the school year gives even more reason to be kind. The other thing to consider re headaches on waking could be your sleep position. Is your pillow good and your neck and back straight when you sleep?

The maze is all ready for some good times over the weekend!

Woke up with no headache today Melissa! I went for a long walk yesterday I wonder if that was the reason for not having it this morning…

My legs are blindingly white, but I realize that they will stay that way until I start going outside with skirts on. LOL. It’s really a catch 22 because I’ve never found any home tanner that didn’t make me look really weird. On I go with pale legs!

A good point! The legs don’t get tanned unless you expose them to the sun.

I live in Florida and I am a pale girl, through and through. I suppose I could use some sunless tanner but I just don’t care enough, lol. At least it keeps my dermatologist happy, ha.

That therapy app does not sound fun! But maybe it’s helpful for your therapist to know that those kinds of mindfulness activities are NOT helping!

Fellow pale lady here… but nothing I can do about it other than go out in shorts and let the sun do its thing 😉

Sorry about the headaches… how much water do you drink each day? It’s hard to figure out sometimes where headaches come from.

Re: teacher appreciation gifts, it must be interesting to put gifts together for the teachers of your kids … but you probably also have great ideas because as a teacher, you know what you’d like to receive yourself, right? 😉

Yep! Exactly re: being pale. lol I honestly don’t drink that much water and I think that may be it. In regards to teacher gifts, all i really want is a note written from my student. I figure we’d give gift cards because I totally ran out of time.

Headaches are no fun. Sorry for your suffering.

Azores sound amazing. Never been. But I researched once but it was so pricey that we didn’t do it. May have to re-add to the travel bucket list.
