Today was awesome. We started early, before 9, and took a metro to Trocadero, to see the other side of the Eiffel Tower. Plus, it was sunny and a walk along the Sene was also an activity I wanted to do. When you get out of Trocadero metro station and get onto that giant platform in between two official buildings, the tower is right in front of you in all its glory. There are also gardens with water features and ducks, and they are not crowded.

The MAM (Modern Art Museum of the City of Paris) is a 10 minute walk from the gardens, along the river. It’s entirely free. There is a Dufy mural, some Picasso, Bonnard, and a few giant Matisse paintings, among other things. We spent so much time at the Dufy mural, we did not see their other pieces well. Oh and it was pretty empty.

From there- lunch. I wanted to visit Café de Flore in St. Germain neighborhood after seeing a movie with Vanessa Paradi called Café de Flore. I watched it years ago but I still remember it. The movie is about love, and loss, and is just so good. The cafe was busy but we got a table, and had lunch. Added after posting: this cafe is what the literary giants used to frequent- think E. Hemingway. But I went there because of the movie.

As per usual, lunch took about an hour and a half, and then we walked to the Luxembourg Gardens where we found a playground and a carrousel! What I loved most about Luxembourg gardens was that there are chairs and benches everywhere! Which is so communal!

We came back at around 5, and while the kids zoned out on their iPads for a bit, I made some tea and cheese. Bought a cheese assortment from a cheesemonger, with small pieces of five different cheeses so I can try some French cheese. It did not disappoint but only if you like stinky cheese 😉

Tomorrow is day 7. I don’t have a plan yet, need to review my notes.

What a perfect day! I think getting out early helped, and what a relief it must have been to be places that weren’t so crowded, after the last couple of days. Your time in Paris is flying by, I’m so glad you are there and that you are blogging!

    Cheese! I love stinky cheese!

I had never heard of Bonnard, but there is a Bonnard exhibit here in DC this Spring, so now I’m intrigued. I love wandering around an empty museum. It always feels so indulgent!

What lovely times you are having.

What a great day!!!! I also loved the different vantage points of the Eiffel Tower. I’ve never heard of MAM and it’s free? Wow. I love when art museums have large rooms and I feel dwarfed and small in terms of scale. It always gives me a warm tingly feeling!

I like cheese but not stinky cheese, or only very moderately stinky I should say! Camembert is one of my faves. I had such good cheese in Paris and it was so cheap compared to back home!

Trocadero is my fave place time the ET from. There is also a great macaron place close to that metro stop. I tried something like 6+ macaron shops to find the one with the best and that place won out.
