This trip is all consuming!! Yesterday was spent doing three hundred tons of laundry, putting it all away, and packing for me and the kids. I asked L to make 5 outfits, one of which she will wear on the plane. So 4 will go into her carry-on.
For R, I just gave him the stuff and he threw it into his carryon. He really couldn’t care less about fashion at his age.
I then made my outfits: tops and bottoms. I am bringing four long sleeve tops and three bottoms that I will then mix and match. No dresses, not this time. Tops: a black turtle neck, a beige sweater, a green sweater, and a black and white sweater. Pants: black, olive and deep burgundy. Shoes: Black Thursday booties.
T helped me with iPads and loaded them with offline and online cartoons and such.
Snacks for the plane
Today we went to Target and the kids selected what they want to snack on the plane. They chose: fruit snacks (but of course), granola bars and pistachios. I also bought naan and will make them a prosciutto sandwich. This is United, I honestly don’t remember what their food is like, but when we flew on TAP last year, L really did not like the smell of the food. Excuuuuuuuze ME. 🤣
Toiletries. Very few. Makeup: mascara, concealer, cream blush, eye liner, lipgloss.
Activities. I purchased some tickets that gave shape to our trip. Those are places that I always wanted to visit: D’Orsay Museum, Louvre Museum, Palais Garnier (the Opera House) and Versailles Palace and gardens. All those are on different days. The rest of the days are open.
This next section is taking crazy to the whole new level. I enjoyed it immensely! It was a collab between L and I while R was napping. 😎
We printed the map of Paris by arrondissements and, with pens and markers, schemed out what we want to see in each arrondissement. At the end, we made 9 pieces of marked up paper, with sites, streets, playgrounds and even some walking distances. Example: Palais Garnier to Moulin Rouge is a 23 minute walk. The rooftop of Printemps Housemann store and Galeries Lafayette are right next door to each other.
Will we get to everything? Of course not!! But it’s good to have a loose plan, on paper. I don’t want to be fumbling with my phone in an unfamiliar city with two kids. I’ll later update the places we actually got to. The front cover of this post is our home base arrondissement.
Ah, the nerves…All is well, all is well. Oh and taxes are done, too. The house is NOT clean, yet.
