Had to look over my calendar to “remind” myself about this past week. I guess that’s what happens when you are burning through your days.

I’ll take that back. I am not burning through anything but I often do find myself in a hamster wheel, with no way out.

  1. Watered my seedlings today at 6AM: so enjoyable! After my “golden hour”, I made more coffee, went outside in my bathrobe (hiya, neighbors!), and turned on the hose. When L woke up, she helped me water the upstairs flower boxes. #lifeskills

2. I feel like I have to step back from non-fiction for a while (I think it’s giving me anxiety) and let myself get lost in a good fiction novel instead. Checked out Sharp Objects by Gillian Flinn from our library. So far, amazing!

3. Impromptu visit to the library on Monday, with the kids! Our kids section closes at 4:30 (yep, it does). If I want to visit our library with them during the week, I have to leave work at 3 (which is doable but requires planning), pick them both up (2 different schools), then make it to the library by 4-ish. Often it’s a hassle. But the stars lined up on Monday and we went to the library. Came home with 15 books.

4. Will never forget Bring Your Child to Work Day yesterday!

5. T took L to see Mario the movie tonight, and I had one-on-one time with R today, after work. Picked him up at 3:15, brought him home. We were actively playing/talking from pick-up till his sister came home around 7.

Played cars, trains, went on a “trip”, sang, danced, played PJ masks, did laundry, had snacks and dinner, wrestled, cleaned the kitchen, took a nice, long bath. Read 10 books and watched a Soyz rocket launch from Baikonur. Anything he wanted. I felt like at this age (3) that’s all he wants: just to be with me. My heart is full.

The PJ Masks mention takes me back…!! I miss the era of PJ Masks and Paw Patrol ❤ It is wonderful when kids just want to hang out and have fun. My two are currently really into playing card games as a family – it turns out to be a low-stress environment to talk about general life things with them, as well. So it's a win/win!
