I am feeling better. That was one brutal luteal phase… And the thing is it will continue repeating every two weeks until my periods stop entirely.

Five things from today:

1. skating! We continue keeping up with our Sunday tradition to go ice skating. We show up at around 1:30 and leave around 3:30. That’s about two hours, with a Zamboni break.

First ones on the rink today

The ice arena also has comfortable seats with tables, arm chairs, and a cafe. So the kids can spend some time resting, have some water, have a snack. Skating can be tiring since your whole body is getting a workout.

2. grocery shopping. My husband is cooking Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday so he went grocery shopping while we went skating.

3. Friendly’s for lunch. This restaurant happens to be right on our way to skates sooo… we stopped there for an early lunch (11:30am) and some ice cream afterwards, then continued to the ice arena.

4. plan my week. My work week is tremendously short next week. Only three days of work, generally. But for me, it will only be two- Tuesday and Wednesday. Tomorrow I have an extended dentist appointment (about two hours) so I need tomorrow off. But, trust me, I’d rather go to work.

Monday- sick day to get my two crowns+rest+tenure celebration with colleagues at 3:30.

Tuesday, work+BJJ for R

Wednesday, work, half a day+piano for L

Thursday: Thanksgiving! Hosting friends+the four of us.

Friday: my daughter’s actual birthday + sushi and cake+ presents. BJJ for R in the early evening.

Saturday: gymnastics for the kids in the morning, my daughter’s birthday party in the afternoon.

Sunday: skating+down day

5. updated our budget in Monarch. Tightened up and moved some money around. This will be an expensive week. I already bought Christmas presents for the kids, plus L’s birthday gifts, plus our Thanksgiving dinner stuff, plus my little Subaru needs to be serviced. Also, two crowns at the dentist :/ Lastly, a big order of pizza for my daughter’s party and her ice cream cake.

So far, we only have seven kids who responded yes. Some may just show up- which is fine.

I always forget how spendy this time of year is. Le sigh. But, all good things.

How was your Sunday? And how is the coming week looking for you?

This month I am participating in #NaBloPoMo2025. A running list of participants can be found on San’s NaBloPoMo page as well as more information about this lovely initiative on this NaBloPoMo page.

How nice that your husband is cooking Thanksgiving dinner! That’s very cool! We are having pizza for Thanksgiving!! My sister-in-law makes the best pizza crust, and everyone is bringing toppings. My contribution will be grated mozzarella cheese. I’m looking forward to it!

Taco woke up sick so it has not been a great day in our house. He’s doing better now so hopefully he just needs to be home tomorrow. Phil can’t WFH so I had to cancel my dental cleaning – which I had already rescheduled in October when I was recovering from my burns and didn’t want the hassle of going downtown. When will this appt actually happen! 3rd times the charm hopefully.

I did have a great workout at orange theory fitness. And Paul and I shopped for toys for the gift donation at church. Then I put up our Christmas lights outside since it was nice and mild outside! So I made the most of the day.

Have you started any HRT? I plan to meet with an endocrinologist to talk through my options. I can’t go on anything hormonal because of a blood clot risk but I think I have enough symptoms to warrant going on something. I have a Mirena which has helped with some of the physical symptoms.

We did laundry today and I took the dog to the dog park. I also did a small sewing project I’ve been putting off for months. That’s about all that I managed to accomplish today, but I’m going to call that a win!

This week should be awesome. I am leaving work early tomorrow for an appointment. I have a full day on Tuesday and then the rest of the week is off! Woot!

Amazing!! I love how some industries (k12, higher ed) have generous days off. Are you traveling for Thanksgiving or staying put?

It is such an expensive time of the year. We start spending for our son’s birthday in late October and I feel like it never stops… Yay for continuing the skating tradition. We cleaned our bathroom today, and it was so gross. But the kids did most of it (with some help/guidance) from me, so that is something!

We started giving the kids chores a while back- maybe a year now? It’s hit if miss but they are easy chores- sweep the kitchen, pick up the living room, pick up the den, tidy their rooms. Nothing major, but still it is helpful.

This time of year is SO spendy. Sigh.

I love your ice skating sessions! What a great way to spend a few hours each week. And look at that sundae!! Wowza.
