Today I kind of lucked out.

L was supposed to have her piano lesson (every Wednesday, for one hour). Her teacher got sick and cancelled all of his lessons.

So instead of going to pick her up, I ended up coming home at 3:15pm. To an entirely empty and quiet house.

I poured myself a glass of rosé.

I made zucchini: the food that only I like.

I also made sausage: the food that everyone likes.

The kids are in aftercare. My husband is at work. And I am here.

Not entirely quiet since I have “Your favorite Coffee House” Spotify playlist on the background.

I am also shopping for warm sweaters for my son. Preferably Christmas ones.

I wanted to get the kids from after care in about an hour but T beat me to it!

It was nice to have this “break” in my day. About two hours to myself. I had grand plans to exercise. But I didn’t. What I did do is shop for Christmas sweater(s), and cook.

I told myself that I will not self-flagellate but rather, I’d enjoy this time. And I did!

What would you do with two hours alone in the house?

This month I am participating in #NaBloPoMo2025. A running list of participants can be found on San’s NaBloPoMo page as well as more information about this lovely initiative on this NaBloPoMo page.

On the front: “nails” that my daughter created lol

It’s the best feeling to have the house to yourself. It sounds like a lovely, relaxing afternoon!

Oh, how sweet this is. I have Fridays off and I usually have the house to myself for most of that time. I sometimes talk to a friend or a kid on the phone and sort laundry or clean something that is screaming to be cleaned. I also workout – I like to do my workout video without a kid sitting eating breakfast, staring at me. Mostly, I write a chapter for my book.

I love your daughter’s nails and her creativity!

I love some quiet and alone time. I usually spend it reading. I think we all deserve a little break now and again to simply do nothing. We don’t need to feel guilty about it, it is our mental health break. Soon enough, you will be back in the thick of things and be everything for everybody. This is your one chance to do something selfish. Enjoy it!

Hahaha I often have time to myself! It’s more like, what do I do when I have people around in the house!

This sounds perfect- I love being alone in the house! Shopping for Christmas sweaters is an activity that I would love. And what is this playlist??? I’m going to check it out.

2 hours alone in the house without kids or work is a thing of beauty! I would probably go to an Orange Theory Fitness class or for a run, then read on the couch with a cup of tea!
