I have two fall jackets and two winter jackets.

FALL. I have my *famous* red Sam Edelman wool coat. I wear it a lot and got many compliments on it over the years. I bought it in the fall of 2021 when I jumped ship from my old district to this current one (where I am so much happier):

FALL. A Nordstrom brown jacket, bought in 2021 as a casual alternative to my red wool coat. I wore it many times, while in NJ and while traveling. Picture below is from Denmark, 2023:

R is perplexed: what is mom doing?… I don’t know what I was doing… Dancing?

WINTER: My eggplant-colored Avec Les Filles puffer jacket. I bought it in 2021 also as my main winter jacket. Also wore it with pleasure for many winters and springs (!) – see below.

Finally, for WINTER I have my red ski jacket bought in… 2016!! That jacket went skiing with me; it went on my Fulbright in Chile trip with me, I wore it through both of my pregnancies, wore it when the kids were small, etc, etc… A true friend. I still have it, except… it looks worn, and the front pocket zipper is broken. I think it may be time to say thank you and goodbye.

And now there is a *new* addition to numbers 1 through 4. I don’t have any pictures in it yet since it just arrived yesterday. Also Avec Les Filles, it’s a beige wool coat, quite long and, I think, it will be warm in winter. I envision it with boots since it’s quite long and I may need a bit of a “lift.”

For the kids. My daughter grew out of her grey Uggs (hand-me-downs from my friend Anya) and her beige boots (a hand-me-down from my friend Nastya). My son only ever has hand-me-downs (because Anya has an older son), and he grew out of those winter shoes, as well. It was time to…go shopping.

Many of those shoes a tad bit big for them but I’m sure they will grown into them. I especially love the Kurt Geiger’s with hearts ❤

As you can see, I do not shop often but when I do…

Are you updating your wardrobe this fall? Adding or removing any pieces?

I just spent a small fortune buying clothes for fall/winter. Hopefully I’m almost done. But I only have two fall coats and they’re very functional and none of them looks a lovely as your coats!

I love your fall coats and your new purchases. The boots with the hearts are adorable. I want a pair! I’ll bet they don’t come in my size though. I have not done any fall shopping.

My phone really does not like the comment boxes of blogs. I will be writing a comment and then poof! It disappears into thin air. I wish I knew what I press or do to make that happen. It makes me crazy. Then I have to go to my Notes app and write it there and copy and paste it in. Which is what I’m doing now.

Anyway, what did I already say…

Oh I looove the new coat. Very chic. And I love the color of your eggplant jacket. I would wear that color like crazy.

I have way too many sweatshirts and jackets. I tell myself it’s because I can (and basically do!) wear them all year, but it’s still an excessive number. I buy way too many clothes…

I am generally pretty good at keeping my kid’s shoes to a reasonable amount. We don’t have anyone that gives us hand-me-downs, so I get the kids shoes new (when they were little I would get some at the consignment shop, but not anymore). They both wear adult sizes now (the 11yo’s feet are officially bigger than mine!) so their shoes are more expensive. The 15yo wears the same size as me which is pretty great. We share some shoes for sure. But she loves Converse and I love Vans so we have our own shoes too. The 11yo loves Jordon’s and he generally has one pair of low and high tops to wear at any given time. I buy them big and on sale and he wears them out before they get too small. He’s growing so fast now though. I worry about the last two pairs I bought him fitting for very long. We shall see.

I feel this as a very European sensibility–the investment in key, well-made pieces instead of a lot of cheap fast-fashion. What a treat to see the lovely stuff you’ve curated and how kind to the earth ❤
