Happy Friday to everyone! This week was a combination of easy and hard days.
Monday. Typical, a little crazy, day. Work, school, piano lesson. Packing lunches for three people (me and the kids). The kids wanted to celebrate fall equinox so I stopped by Trader Joe’s and got some chocolates in shapes of pumpkins, acorns and leaves. I’ve also been struggling with a cold… Or are those fall allergies? I’m not sure. I pulled through Monday, then thankfully- thankfully!- on Tuesday I was OFF because of Rosh Hashanah.

Tuesday. I had off on Tuesday for Rosh Hashanah while my kids were at school and husband had to go into the office. So I had the house to myself, and it was glorious. I cleaned and tidied the house, did the laundry, could rest for a bit, and catch up on the overall life. I honestly love when we have these holidays during the school year, a day off in the middle of the week (although I’d love it better when they fall on Mondays and Fridays). I did grade some quizzes but nothing that broke my back. Brought my son to Brazilian jiu jitsu.
Wednesday was a really hard day. After a day of rest, being at home, in my own space, with time and space, Wednesday was full speed ahead at work with 5 classes. Each class is 56 minutes long, but three of them are honors level where the students are more mature and require less management. My Spanish 2 classes are more feisty and require me to be “on” a little more.
After work I had a dentist cleaning appointment that lasted about an hour. The hygienist is very thorough, and takes her time, then the doctor himself is thorough and also takes his time. I have receding gums and that can be VERY sensitive and I feel everything they do. When they use a machine- forget about it. I sit there in cold sweat. I still go every six months for a cleaning but I loathe the experience with my heart and soul.
This time I was told I have to come back for 2.5 hours worth of dental work on top row of my teeth. Because I had Invisalign, they couldn’t fix what they needed to fix but now that the top row is done with Invisalign, they can repair what is in need of repair. My bottom teeth are still in treatment with aligners.
I sweated so much in that chair that I wanted to go home and take a shower, because my kids then had their back to school night. Thankfully, it was at the same school, I just had to visit two different classrooms.

It was wonderful to meet my kids’ teachers. Their presentations were short and sweet, mainly what to expect this year, what the kids will learn and what they need for the classroom.
On Thursday it was a full days of work plus MY back to school night. After the whole day, and with NJ humidity, I decided to come back home and freshen up. I also had to create totally new BTS presentations since not sure what happened to mine from last year. I could not find them in Google drive. It was stressful to say the least. But I got them done in time!
From 7pm till 8:30pm I was talking to my students’ parents in 10 minutes increments while they followed their kid’s schedule. I went to bed kind of late and had to wake up the next morning because…
…it was Friday! And I was tired.
I pulled through since I had no other choice. My honors classes had a subjunctive quiz, while my level 2 students did a game, sentence creation, and audio activities on reflexive verbs. Our classes on Friday were shortened since we had a pep rally in the afternoon. I raced home after work so I could put my feet up. My husband brought R to his jiu jitsu lesson while my daughter was in aftercare and I had some me time, with my calendar, colored markers, and tea.
Overall, not a bad week but some very challenging moments.
