On Saturday, R and I went to the Prudential Arena in Newark to see the Monster Jam. Six monster trucks race and compete on how high they jump, how long they stay on two wheels, and how they spin.
I loved it.
I didn’t think I would because, I am an introvert and, apart from plays here and there, I don’t go to this type of giant events. This was quite a SHOW.
The trucks were colorful, shiny, and oh so LOUD. The whole place was vibrating with such great energy, catchy music, tons of kids, very informal and interactive- the hosts continuously interviewed children, played cam games, gave out toy monster trucks.
In total, six monster trucks, with two women drivers and four men.

Saturday night.. I was so tired.. But I had a wonderful time. This event cost us $86 for two tickets, $26 parking fee and $24 for one beer and one water. Gas, our town to Newark? Maybe $7?
Worth it!
On Sunday L and I went the Korean spa and sauna. I usually go alone but she has been asking me to go so together we went. Every last weekend of the month is a family weekend where you can bring your kids. We were the first ones in line, there at 9am sharp. She has been up since 6, ready to go 😜

We stayed from 9 to a little past 2pm. We (I) alternated between a variety of saunas (Himalayan salt, gem, charcoal, forest dry). While I was sweating buckets, L would stay for a short while (think a few minutes) then come out and wait for me outside. She had her sketch pad and pencils, her two dolls, and her iPad. The place had plentiful seating.
We also explored the wet part of the spa – a section with three hot round pools with burbling jets, a Turkish steam, and a dry aromatherapy sauna. L loved the jacuzzis. That section is female only. Men have their own wet section.
This was a good experience for L since in the wet section of the sauna, no clothes is permissible. In other words, you have to be naked. I talked to her before hand about that so that it wouldn’t be a shock to her. I told her that she will see naked women and girls, and that we all have different bodies but in the end we are the same- humans. When we were about to go into the wet section, I told her to get undressed and she was shy, but once she saw that everybody had no clothes on, she relaxed and started playing.
During the visit we consumed a boba tea, a coffee, a smoothie, and some vanilla ice cream. Lunch was two Korean dishes at the spa restaurant.

These were expensive five hours: $132 for the admission for both of us, and we ate/drank $58. Free parking and not far from our hometown.
Overall, a good, albeit exhausting, weekend. I don’t feel rested at all in spite of having some time at the spa. I will need to incorporate some SAT (sweet alone time) this coming week. And, next weekend we are taking it easy.
How was your weekend?
