This was kind of a long week but, overall, it was good.
Work. Work is going well, students are learning; some are struggling but those are learning as well. Work stays at work, email stays closed after contractual hours (3PM). Our school building is under some renovations so that is a bit of a pain but better for us in the long run, when the building has had some updates.
My direct supervisor has retired! I am sad because I really like him. At the moment we have a fill-in supervisor who is from the English department. She is really nice. The district will soon be looking for someone to fill in that position permanently. T asked me: “would you apply? You have the degrees/certs..” Not for this one, no. My former supervisor was social studies+world language, and I have zero clue on any kind of social studies. I don’t even read the news! Additionally, a position like that will require a 12 month contract. Mayyyyyybe I’ll consider it down the line, when the kids are bigger, and don’t want to spend time with me.. But at this season of my life, the kids are small, and I want to have my summers off. For them and for myself. Plus, I love to travel.
Self. Another bummer: my yoga studio is closing its doors at the end of March. I am really sad about that! I am a relatively new client (signed up last June) but I have been going on the regular, 2-3 times a week. I will miss all the teachers. Saturday mornings, Monday and Wednesday nights… I will have to find a different studio OR use Peloton app – T has a subscription and there are yoga classes, strength, riding lessons and even meditation. I will have to be more disciplined because with an app, nobody is expecting me at the studio… And that kind of accountability is what works with me.
Talking about self, need to talk about daily habits. That silly chart I showed you last time is working. Kind of. I started putting Y for yoga and W for weights. Outside time has been pitiful. It is so cold!
I will do the same for February but will update/change the habits a bit. Maybe “outside” was not a good habit for January when it’s so cold. Also, what does “outside” mean in this case? Does walking from house to car count? From car to work? From work to car? No. By outside I mean a 15-20 minute walk outside, in the park or up and down the street. And “hydrate” is already in my routine with regular water, tea, and soup.

Highlights…
T and I found a reliable sitter. And, we have a date! Going out to dinner and seeing a live theater show. Last time we had a date was… back in November, I think? Tonight we are seeing “I love you, you are perfect, now change.”
L made honor roll at her school. She is a very good student, loves to learn, and we are very proud of her.
Last week, R joined the next level class at jiu jitsu. Before, he was in 3-4 year olds group and now that he turned 5, he is in a 5 to 6 year olds group. In 5 to 6 class, the kids are older, so they wrestle A LOT, very different from the other class where the kiddos are still small.
Phone use down 26% compared to last week. I had my Kindle making a note to NOT misplace it as I usually do.

My notebook where I journal and plan has run out and it’s time for the next one. I have a stash of notebooks that I replenish when I visit places. This new one is from NY Botanical gardens and it has all kids of citrus fruit on it.

Enough blabbering for today.
Any daily habits for you? How are you doing on annual goals?
Hope you all are having a good weekend.
