Today was our last day on the Amalfi coast! Tomorrow morning, we are taking a train to Calabria, and T is catching a plane back home.

The kids were sad, especially L, that T is leaving ❤️

The kids are I were up relatively early to visit Ravello, a village up in the mountains. We took a bus to Amalfi, then another bus to Ravello. While we were doing that, T slept in a bit but then he hiked up the mountain to meet us in Ravello later in the morning.

It was quite an experience for L and R who are used to be driven everywhere. The bus to Amalfi was really full and we had to stand in the aisle. The kids were both upset that they couldn’t sit down- well, there were no seats available. Plus, it was a winding road because- Amalfi Coast- and the kids kept leaning toward one another, and that didn’t sit well with them either, and I had to explain why.

The bus to Ravello was also full – I had R sit on my lap to clear the seat for another person, and he got upset about that. He wanted his own seat but that wasn’t possible. So, the kids need to learn more about communal habits and public transport behavior 🙃

Ravello was gorgeous but touristy. We tried to get away from the center and into the side streets. On one of the side streets we found a small cafe called Cafe de Sofi. It was a three person operation: one waiter/translator, a grandma in the kitchen making the food, and her husband, taking the orders. We absolutely loved the food and the fact that it was made right there, in the back kitchen, by an Italian lady- we could actually see her making the food. We had lasagna, French fries, a prosciutto salad and a caprese salad.

L is developing quite a taste for caprese salads

I mentioned that Ravello is up on the mountain. To get back to our base we had to walk down. It took about an hour coming down and using the stairs. The kids were whining, of course, and we made frequent stops, and it was hot. But I enjoyed the path down – people’s back yards, gardens, churches and small capillas. Cats, too.

At least we were going down. T did this going UP.
The grapes were too high 😉

Needless to say, we came back, all took a quick rinse, and napped.

In the evening, R and I went to the playground, and T and L hit the beach. Dinner was at Antares Bistro Bar, food was good but did not blow us away. We had gnocchi, pasta with bolognese sauce, mussels and an octopus salad. And that was our last dinner on the Amalfi coast. Tomorrow is Calabria.

My last picture of the Minori piazza where we hung out quite a bit

R looks so hot in the bus pic!! Hear can make everyone extra testy, myself included. Taco would prefer to sit on top of me at all times. He would like to be a baby Joey in mom’s kangaroo pouch if that was an option. It’s sweet at times but not when I am hot and NEED PERSONAL SPACE!!

Everything is so beautiful, but I think the heat would do me in! It must be so hard for T to leave! The caprese salad looks amazing!

I love the little villages in Europe, and walking really is the best way to immerse yourself, but very tiring for the kids in the hot weather.
